| So I have two weeks off and am ripe for a challenge - here it is: Twelve minis, as of this afternoon. The metal ones have a grey undercoat by now and they all will have another white coat tomorrow. Then I'll be on vacation for a week and after that I'll see how far I'll get @ Drakkol: some sad news for you. Look at this trailer that will influence how millions view archery and tell me where the mistake is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7VdONYkKFmQ | |

| these are some awesome conversions!! Really cool idea with the 40k minis. If it's fine with you I might just borrow the idea since I have a lot of 40k minis that I have no use for and no one to sell to. | |

| @ Alex: sure, it is not like I was the first to ever use 40k minis for MH and I woun't stand between a hobbyist and his painting opportunity anyway. Just maybe post some pics in this forum when you are done! | |

| So I finally finally FINALLY managed to paint up another mini. Okay, so there is no grass yet and a highlight on the green gem is missing, but so what. Here are the pics: The skin beneath nose and mouth look a little dark, but all the pics I did happened to be from a low ankle. Other than that, he looks like in the pics. | |

| Sorry I missed your Bell Armed Guy's first post. He & the other pieces have the stylistic feel of John Blanche's illustrations...for Mordhiem & moi that is a big plus. The War Band has TREMENDOUS potential. I can identify with the slow start. Whenever I switch from terrain building back to mini painting there's a dead spot, like a writers blank page syndrome, when no ideas for colors et al are forthcoming. Once I get going everything is fine again. You've broken through; keep up the GREAT WORK! | |

| I absolutely love your warbands, conversions and style. Especially the witch hunters. Each model is a distinct character that makes the warband very special in its whole.

| Thanks for the quick replies and for the comparison with the Blanche-feeling. The style I ty to borrow is even that of Rembrandt and El Greco, with their bright, pale faces and dark everything-else. You grow with your challenges, right? I got to admit that I also like the witchhunters a little bit more than I like the adventurers. I think it is because I created every witchhunter individually and had an idea in the back of my mind for most of them. The adventurers I assenbled in one go to get my "army" started. There are some nice ideas as well, but the henchmen are very basic and I got a great idea for the captain that I couldn't put into practice because he was half finished already. Plus pretty much every WH-mini has something green on it, to make it part of the group (fire or jewelry). I still have to do that for the Adv.. Third, while it is not directly unique, using 40k-minis for MH is a little less common than using the adventurer-plastics. Never the less, I think I'll finish the Adv. first, because they are half way done anyways and I could make different warbands out of them by just replacing some heroes. (If I ever get to play a game again in my life - noone nearby where I moved ) | |

| Oh God...I didn't see your answer Grimscull. TWO years... I'm so sorry. =.= There's a BIG mistake at 1:09 and 1:58...he's using a bow in the wrong side. That's a bow for archers that use left eye...but he's using the technique for those that im with right eye. Not to mention that's a "scolastic" recurve bow...covered in gold. XD Back on topic. Awsome job with your warband! I don't really know which model is my favourite. Maybe The one done with Coteaz. | |

| Ah, what is two years in the hobby, right? Look how far I got with my adventurers in that time... I don't know if you can see it in the last pic, but I did take your advice from back then. Yes, Coteaz is one perfect example for a mini that I carried an idea for around with as I said earlier. In his case for years actually. Him in priest-garb. When I was finally done I felt really excited to see something turn out so nicely that I had imagined for such a long time. (Also the TMM on the sword is the best I came up with so far.) Generally, to have a product that we can have in our hands is one advantage we tabletoppers have over, say, videogamers (there are several games I played for hundreds of hours, but what is left of that but 1s and 0s?) | |

| Yep. I've noticed that detail and appreciated VERY much! ^_^
I had a commission for a Coteaz to be used like you did. Make it a fantasy inquisitor/priest. I'll show it as soon as I'll have completed that job.

| Two new minis done, the wizard and the first bowman. I like parts of them a lot and some not so much (the bowman's right foot, for example) and also the pics are not that great (the wizard has eyes for example and there are some green stones shining not only on his chest but also the swordhilt and the staff). But I really wanted to finish them up and start with something else. Here they are again with the rest of my finished Reikländer. I wanted to get those two minis done because I'm thinking of participating in a little contest over at my home-forum. There are four rounds, 1,5 month each. Every round you have to paint 500 points in minis for an army, or, in case of skirmish-games, a new warband made out of 10 minis. If you don't get it done in time, you drop out. So if I make it through all four rounds, I should have 4 new warbands by the end of april next year. Problem is that only build and primed minis may participate and all my unfinished Reikländer have seen some paint already. This is why I go through my collection to get two more Witchhunter and 1 Marienburger and Middenheimer warband ready. Start is november first, I think. Here is what I came up with so far, but I found some more minis after the photo and also there should arrive the two Middenheimer Youngbloods by mail from Ebay any day now. The pic shows what I think of using for an oldschool witchhunter warband, the Middenheimer, Marienburgen and Sci-Fi Witchhunters together with some mercs to add some colour. So tell me what you think! | |

| The new Lads are SPLENDID looking. I enjoy your color choices & brushwork...very dark & atmospheric. The Gang looks WONDERFUL altogether. VERY WELL DONE! The BEST OF LUCK with the contest...it sounds like a fine way to get all those BEAUTIFUL minis painted! | |

| Thanks you two! Even two updates in 1,5 month (1 at the start and one after 1,5 month, showing how far I got) is more than what's my average so far, so the contest would be a good thing whatever the outcome. I'll most certainly try it.
Any more comments or critique? It's always welcome!

| So I managed to finish the first round in the little contest at my home-forum. These are the minis I finished in 1,5 month: I made many more photos for my thread at the other forum, both WIP and of the individual minis. If you are interested just click here: http://www.tabletopwelt.de/forum/showthread.php?t=166286It's in german, but who cares with the pics, right? I_m planing to revisit each mini after the contest for the bases and some details (blending on the swords, jewels). I'll make some more photos then and hopefully post them here also. | |

| Lovely "family" photo! And they are all now OOP models! Great use of the Malifaux scenery too (I'm assuming it's Malifaux). Gives a very interesting depth to the models.
Anyway, I'm afraid your home-forum is too secure. I can't load any pictures unless I'm registered...
