When do you get the underdog experience? Do you get it at the beginner of the battle just for playing? Is it a bonus to the surviving a battle exp? Do you get the bonus for kills?

I have always played it as it is earned at the end of the scenario. It is in addition to any other exp gains and does not affect them.

It should be applied at the end of the battle when you do the rest of your XP. Things like kills and what not wouldn't be affected. If you're getting a 3 point bonus and your hero kills another warrior he doesn't get 4 xp for the kill he still gets one. At the end of the game he just gets 3 bonus in addition to what he'd normally pick up for the scenario.
