In the rules of the fighting claws and weeping blades it states:

Quote :
Pair: Fighting Claws are traditionally used in pairs,
one in each hand. A warrior armed with Fighting
Claws gets an additional attack.

(weeping blades with the identical text except the name of the weapon is switched).

How is this meant? Is this +1 Attacks the same as getting another attack because the model uses an additional handweapon or gives it +2 attacks (+ 1 for the second handweapon and +1 for the fc/wb)?

Example: A Black Skaven with A1 in his profile is equipped with fc/wb. does he get 2 attacks or 3?

Quote :
art of silent death
The Skaven has patiently mastered the deadly art of
open-hand fighting, as taught by the mystics of Cathay in
the temples of the far East. In hand-to-hand combat, the
Skaven can fight with his bare paws without any
penalties and counts as having two weapons (ie, +1
attack). In addition, a Skaven Hero with this skill will
cause a critical hit on a To Wound roll of 5-6 instead of
just 6. This skill may be used in conjunction with the
Eshin Fighting Claws (+2 Attacks instead of +1).

So this would suggest that in the example above he gets 3 attacks, but I remember people arguing the +1 is due to the additional handweapon only....

I thought this had been discussed before, but I could not find anything using the search function. So I bring it up.

BTW: For those who are using the -1 penalty for multiple weapons: Would you apply the -1 penalty for fc/wb too or treat them as an exception as they are "used in pairs"?

The extra attack mentioned is because of the additional weapon. So a model armed with a pair of fighting claws and has one attack on his profile will have a total of two attacks.

The art of silent death skill is pretty clear. Unarmed, you get 2 attacks and with fighting claws, you get three attacks (if you only have one attack on your profile).

I know people use both variants, at least for fighting claws.
One argument for disregarding the -1 with fighting claws is that they are basically two swords for 35gc but you can't use just one.
The weeping blades however, are two swords (20gc) covered permanently with black lotus (11-16gc * 2). (totals 42-52gc) So the price is reasonable and shouldn't be allowed to disregard the -1 penalty.

but why does then unarmed with AoSD give +1 attack to an A1 model whereas FC gives+2?

fighting with two arms would be the same regarding the number of attacks as fighting with a pair of fighting claws, wouldn't it?

Why is a question that is good to ask and hard to answer, especially about Mordheim. The rule is fairly clear for a Mordheim rule, so its safe to take it as written.

My theory would be that they wanted to give an advantage to fighting claws to balance not being able to use a missile weapon or shield with them.

Yes. Another reason might be that they cost 35gc. If you could fight equally well unarmed, why ever spend the 35gc?
