| Hello! My names is Edwin and I LOVE Mordheim. I'm original from Puerto Rico, and I have been involved in the game since early 2005. I used to live in Chattanooga (Tennessee, FL), but a year ago I moved south-west Florida... virtually no gaming here. In any case, in couple weeks I will be moving to Fort Myers (Florida) and I will be able to join DaBank's Mordheim group. Interesting enough, I have know DaBank (Andy) for YEARS... and it was only 'til few days ago that we met for the very first time. He is a pretty cool guy... quite skinny for being a Banker and all. He told me of your forum... so here I'm. I hope to return to Mordheim in force pretty soon. I would like to let everyone know, I did not stole my Nick... I'm the creator and (very lazy) webmaster of The Mordheimer's Information Centre. I'm pretty sure than once I get addicted to Mordheim (again), Andy will persuade me to re-do the website (v2.0) and add some content! I have not abandoned the site... as a matter of fact, I know it will be around for one more year. For those who have enjoyed the site... I have kept it alive for you! Meanwhile, you could visit my current project, The Golden Bolter Society. While it is mostly for Warhammer 40k, it has several nice articles that can be easily applied to Mordheim. I will be around.... BTW; Tom, your site is NOT boring at all! Pretty nice indeed! | |

| Welcome, Edwin! I am very pleased to have you on board! Your contributions to Mordheim through the Mordheimer site are legendary and we all appreciate that a lot (like that you just renewed the domain and stuff)! I hope you enjoy our little community here. | |

BLUSH Legendary... wow... Thanks for the boost in Ego! Like I told DaBank when I met him, Mordheim is the only game that I know in which when you loose you may actually win and vice-versa. Combine with the fact that is a miniature wargame that requires very little investment (compare buying a brand new warband vs a Fantasy or 40k Army) and the rules are very straight forward makes it to be a SUPERB intro game for new players. I fell in love with the game (told tell Mrs Mordheimer!) in less than 12 hours of just reading the manual. The site was a natural extension of my own research to play the game. When our local group stop playing Mordheim after a very fun 8 month weekly campaign and my son (and then other daughter... we have a total of 3 little Mordheimers around) my time shifted away from the site... but I always knew someone would found useful. Regardless of what GW attempted to do, I promised myself I would keep the site alive. Now that by chance I have stumble with a nice group of players, I know I will start playing again. BTW, here in Fort Myers ALSO lives Hamster (aka Hamster Boy) who has been published in the SG site as a contributor several times... super cool guy! When I start playing, thus, the site would become active (in my part) as a natural extension of our campaign. With a little push, I will start collecting info from other sites (dead or alive) for preservation... many of the little hidden treasures on that site came from now defunct sites... as well as continuing super ambitious projects like the the Scenario compilation... that WAS crazy! Also, as I get re-acquainted with old sites (like Tzeech's and Bramham's) as well as new sites (like Border Town Burning) I would be able to promote and contribute on THEIR stuff (BTW... the Border Town Burning site is awesome!) I will keep the same mission as before; to preserve and disseminate any and all information about Mordheim I find, respecting authors and creators alike... while leaving the site completely free for use and without ads, sponsors, donation requests and other monetary issues... a true fan-site; from a fan to the world! That is where I will pull help from the community (like before). I believe that Ashton will become my future advisor. - Ashton wrote:

I will take your offer! As he (and many of you know) I did the site in FrontPage (don't roll your eyes... I see you!) For being made in FP, is very clean and optimized code, including Java and other stuff. Unfortunately, as the site grew it became very heavy. In the new site I would love to make something nice and clean, like the Border Town Burning site... even if I don't like the free/advertise banner in the top... Since I have much of the text files and PDFs, the operation would be time consuming, but well worth it. I would get a paid host that can handle the bandwidth and I can place the files there. Then to add stuff... I probably maintain the old site (hidden within the new version) for sentimental purposes, but the plan (once I return to Mordheim) is to work hard on making an informative site. I do NOT plan to make any forums... what for? I would better send them here... and work within this community to make an 'opponent finder', share stories, allow contributions to be preserved and other good stuff. I want to keep my site as a purely informative site, in which players can come and pick up what they want. While I love feedback, I would much prefer to preserve the game... which should be GW work! But... that is another big issue. Lets keep it civil, friendly AND happy! - Ashton wrote:

Thank YOU! I totally feel where you're coming from. The BTB site also is a 'natural extension' of our campaign. I am lucky to have found a couple of other enthusiasts who help us push and develop the project. - Mordheimer wrote:

Ha ha, no problem at all! I enjoyed reading your rambling speech a lot! It's great becaue one can see your enthusiasm and love for the game. You mentioned GW. I alsways wondered if they ever tried to stop the Mordheimer or restrict the content on there. You have a lot of official rules up there (Curiosity Shoppe stuff) which should be commercially available from GW normally. Didn't you ever get an email form their lawyers? Finally, I have to say how I am really really looking forward to what you have planned with the Mordheimer site. This sounds really cool and helpful. Thanks a lot!

Hu? You don't mean to say that you get any ads or stuff on the BTB site, do you? There is a top bar of ads that is put on the BTB site by the domain registrar. (it's a free domain registrar, so it's worth it.) BTB doesn't get anything out of it.

Thanks, Ashton. I think someone already told me bout this. It's strange that I don't get the ad bar. Well, it's a free domain so I'll have to live with it.

I do get a little banner on top... nothing major. But your layout is VERY clean, loads fast and (most important) is full of goodies! YEAH! - cianty wrote:

Ohhh man! It is a long story! To make is 'short', it was ME who wrote to GW (specifically to A. Hall) to introduce the site to them. My records showed that someone from GW was regularly visiting my site for 2 weeks before my initial contact with them! I explained to him (or them... GW) that I was a fan, making a fansite. I told them that my intention was not to infringe their Intellectual Property, but to support the community. I told him that I was posting information that they were posting for free, in a much friendlier fashion (IMHO, my navigation is much easier than the SG site...) respecting the spirit of their 'free' publications. Also, my intention was to support the community by preserving work from other fan sites that were now abandoned. I asked them to have my site under their wings (unofficially) and monitor it. It would allow to give them a chance to have any material they seem inappropriate to be removed quietly... thus GW remaining 'the good guy' at all times. Instead, I received a semi-canned email thanking me for supporting GW products and that I had to remove the IT from the site. WTF?!? So, again I answered with a 3 page email (remember... I love to ramble!) explaining that a properly documented unofficial support from GW would serve them in court as an active participation in the defense of their IT and that I was already supporting stuff that they were not supporting. The letter was a true & deep expression on how I wanted to help Mordheim's game community. The respond was a little email (rather impersonal) stating the same. There were completely unwilling to see what we could do. So, I told them that I would remove all the site's content they wanted in 24 hours, but that they (GW) needed to send me a physical certified letter from their legal department (in GW Letterhead.) I told them that I would scan the letter and post it on the site's index, and that I would maintain it there until the day I die... Ironically, three days after I send that email (with CC to other people in GW... I was really angry! ) The my site was prominently advertised in SG's link section. As a matter of fact, I just checked few hours before... and the link still there! Talk about having a cake and eating it too! ( LINK) I remember early 2006 I publicly challenged SG to the matter in their own forum... of course, I was conveniently ignored. Shortly after, my son was born and I vanished from the scene... I just visited and read in the dark. The site went 'off line' because there was a problem with the DNS server (you could still reach it directly by IP) so I had no idea the site was gone... until DaBank told me by email. It was fixed in less than 24 hrs. Then last week went off line again, because I forgot that the domain name expired (I purchased it for 3 years)... so that was taken care after DaBank told me. Ohhh man... another rant! I suck!

| Thanks a lot for the look behind the scenes, Ed! The threat about the scanned letter is priceless. I guess they realized that the effort of properly stopping you from hosting the material wasn't worth it in the end (since they expect to make money with the miniatures rather than with rules anyways*). *A policy that would single-handedly destroy the entire Warhammer Historical division, by the way, since they do nothing other than publish rulebooks. Oh well, GW's a schizophrenic beast.GW is not aware but most - or at least a lot of - people who are playing Mordheim nowadays are making great use of your site especially since you have a sort of monopoly on the contents of the Curiousity Shoppe article which was never put up on the Specialist Games site but which, because it was published in the Annual, is of high relevance to the gamers. About the BTB site: It was good way of motivating myself to learn some HTML but it's really unprofessionally done. I should move on and program the site in PHP but I can't find the time nor motivation to do so. It does work well for smaller websites such as the Mordheim Nemesis Crown supplement but for BTB it's a bit inefficient. I will probably kick myself in the ass and do a proper site for the next project after BTB, though. Alright, great conversation and I still don't mind your long posts. Far from it! | |

| Hahahaha. That is 100% awesome. Hahaha. The beauty of Bureaucracies. Your rants are absolutely quality entertainment. As funny as a DeafNala rant, and that's saying something I'm so happy you got that domain back. I have never had any luck getting domains back... My father had a domain that expired, and a week later he was asked for $1000 to get it back from some random domain scalper that bought the domain the minute it expired... I won't mention the registrar *cough* *Network solutions* *cough* Haha. Thanks for sharing. | |

| cianty: LOL! That is how I learned HTML! I used Frontpage as a base, then I started coding like there was no tomorrow. I had the EXACT same issue as you... it worked fine at first, then it became weird... I remember that Safari had some issues as I started coding for compatibility. I decided I was going to move to PHP... but I never found the motivation to learn that. Sound familiar? So, if I have to re-make (update) the site, I guess I wil be learning (shivers) a new software/language. Ashton: That is why I became a Registrar on the 1st place! I got a domain name hijacked once... never again! ICAMM has 'small print' rule, in which Registrars have a 30 day buffer period to re-buy domains that they controlled in behalf of the previous owner ONLY if the previous owner is going to retain possession of them. So, if my domains expire and someone else buys them the next day... I don't care. As the previous Registrar I have the legal right to buy it from any 1st Level Registrar (NOT from whoever bought it) within 30 days of expiration if it will remain property of the previous owner.. ME! The things that Mordheim teaches you... MUHAHAHAHAHA! | |

| Hey it is great to have The Modheimer as part of our forum! Your site is immensely invaluable, especially with the constant reorganizations of SG. As I understand a lot of the classic articles are n longer available from GW...
Welcome, it's good to know you are back into the game and that your site is not going away anytime soon!
Now if any GW lawyers are reading this... you are too good at your job! Leave us fanboys alone!

| Ed...just like everyone else said the Mordheimer site has been a big help to all gamers to find stuff that you just can't guy anymore. We are hoping to close the loop on all materials for SG games. Meaning between all of us we have it all on files to be available to all. If someone sees something is missing let us know and I know that between all of us we can track it done and get it posted. We have all the TCs posted and the 2002 annual. I am trying to give links for scans of the buildings but my storage space ADRIVE, upgraded and I can't figure out how to find the links to shared files that I could find before and post. Besides all that, Ed, I can't wait for you to play!!! I picked those discs up tonight, i forgot them last week. | |
