PostSubject: The Lost Prince scenario   The Lost Prince scenario Icon_minitimeMon 14 Mar 2011 - 5:30

A few questions came up in tonight's playthrough of "The Lost Prince" multiplayer scenario.

The scenario is on page 10 --> http://tabletopgeeks.com/wp-content/downloads/supplements/TownCryer05.pdf

1. Can a prince's rescuer run with him?

2. Does the winning player get the loot if all other warbands route?
2a: What if the prince is not in the winner's custody?

3. Suppose one model wishes to charge two enemy models. One of the enemy models is a base-width closer to the charger. Can he intercept so that he's the only one being charged?

4. How does the underdog bonus work in multiplayer? I seem to remember it being only the lowest rated band that receives the bonus xp...?

Found the official answer for #4 on the lower left corner of page 7 of Town Cryer #5. Looks like there is only one underdog, but it's calculated against the next highest warband instead of the highest.

1. Can a prince's rescuer run with him?

We say "yes", since the rules don't specify that he cannot run. Also, note that when he is in random movement he moves d6, which exceeds his assigned movement stat of 4, thus implying that he can run.

2. Does the winning player get the loot if all other warbands route?
2a: What if the prince is not in the winner's custody?

With the scenario as written, the game doesn't end when the other warbands route, only when a warband escorts the prince off of the board. Here's the rule: "The game ends when one warband manages to get the merchant’s son off the table. That warband (and any allied warband) is the winner." So when a warband escorts the prince off the table, regardless of the status of the other warbands, that warband wins and it receives the loot.

3. Suppose one model wishes to charge two enemy models. One of the enemy models is a base-width closer to the charger. Can he intercept so that he's the only one being charged?

Here's the rule: "If an unengaged (ie, not in hand-to-hand combat) enemy model lies within 2" of the charge route, that model may choose to intercept the charger if he wishes." So, as I understand your question, yes the closer model could intercept.

4. How does the underdog bonus work in multiplayer? I seem to remember it being only the lowest rated band that receives the bonus xp...?

You've already answered this one.

Thanks for the response mweaver. Interesting take on #2.

In our game, the last warband alive after the other two routed was also taking route tests. So by the rules as written, they would have to collect the prince and get him to a board edge before they failed and routed.

Given that interpretation, who would have won if the last warband had failed (i.e. all warbands route before any can escort the prince off the board)?

A follow-up on #1 too: Suppose the prince's rescuer is a skaven. Can they run 12" or the prince's max of 8".

"Given that interpretation, who would have won if the last warband had failed (i.e. all warbands route before any can escort the prince off the board)?"

Then nobody wins. The lost prince's fate remains a mystery...

A follow-up on #1 too: Suppose the prince's rescuer is a skaven. Can they run 12" or the prince's max of 8".

The scenario rules say that the YP has the stats of a youngblood, so his movement = 4 making the max he can run 8.
