Rules on Magic Empty
PostSubject: Rules on Magic   Rules on Magic Icon_minitimeTue 15 Feb 2011 - 15:56

Something that came up in a game the other day. My group and i were looking through the magic section and it never says whether or not you need line of sight for magic. Are we missing something? Obviously it only makes sense for them to need line of sight but just cuz it makes sense doesnt mean thats the rule.

According to the Q&A in TC#12, p. 43:

Quote :

Spells cannot be targeted at models which are out of line of sight. However, models which are out of sight may still be affected by spells with an area effect provided another model is targeted and they fall within the spells' radius.

Hope this helps your discussions.

We have house ruled that you have to have LOS on any target or starting point of any area effect. So for example you might not be able to see a model, but if you have a ranged spell that targets an area you have to be able to see the center point then lay the template using the point you can see as the center/starting point.

It's like throwing a grenade, you might not be able to see the guy in the building, but if you throw it in the window near him he can get caught-up in the blast.
