| Hey. Just to let you know that I finaly started painting my skavens after more than 2 years unpainted ^^. I also ordered a Rat-Ogre and 2 night runner sprue to complete my warband (I still needed 4 models that I usualy borrow to my friend).
I had to renew my stock of paint though, 4 years in a dark corner of my room definitly didn't helped ...Before they were dusty, some had dried now they're all a complete waste. I bought 4 citadel paint (I couldn't find any Vallejo paint :S): Chaos Black to undercoat; Vermin brown and Scortched Brown for fur; and boltgun metal. Just now that's all I need. I ordered a lot of 15 vallejo paint and just couldnt't wait for them (3 weeks, cheap shipping) so I bought these 4 color at my local game shop to start right now.
All my model are coated in black and I started the fur on 5 of them. I'm a bit disapointed with my painting skills lol. It hasn't came out as well as I wished it would. Fur is definitly harder than skin. I hope it will look better when the whole model will be painted.
I'll post some photos as soon as I can find an acceptable camera.

| Hey! I've just recieved my wonderful bottles of Vallejo paint. After a quick test, I must say that I reaaaally like the result on miniatures - the layer seems somewhat tinner than with GW paint. I'll start painting tonight. Yay! Pics coming soon. | |

| Looking forward to seeing the pics! I am also a recent convert to Vallejo paints - I always resisted trying them as I'd heard they rub off very easily. Now I have tried them I see this is nonsense (with a good varnish they are as tough as any other paint). I haven't bought many colours yet but I will be over the next few weeks! | |

| After ten attempts or so, I successfully took some pics of my warband with my crappy-dont-even-think-about-choosing-some-settings-yourself camera. The whole warband ![John's warbands [Wip] Img0472qi5.th](https://2img.net/r/ihimizer/img182/7934/img0472qi5.th.jpg) Here are some detailed pics. The paint job sucks and I'll redo it soon but at least you'll see my assembly/conversion job. My Assassin. It's the fig I'm currently painting, i just started the fur and skin so it's not nearly completed. ![John's warbands [Wip] Img0476ww9.th](https://2img.net/r/ihimizer/img148/3967/img0476ww9.th.jpg) My Sorcerer. I made it out of night runner pieces and some orcs bit, I believe. Don't mind the sticky thing (sorry I can't find the word in english. We call this 'gommette' in french) under its feet. I paint my models unattached to their base and stick them back afterward. ![John's warbands [Wip] Img0473gk5.th](https://2img.net/r/ihimizer/img182/5663/img0473gk5.th.jpg) One of my black skaven. Now that's some ugly painting! But it's one of my heavilly converted model so I wanted to show it to you all. Among other things, I used a human body, converted a spear into a halberd and used a fighthing claw hand to give a ninja looking pose to the model. ![John's warbands [Wip] Img0470hu1.th](https://2img.net/r/ihimizer/img148/7345/img0470hu1.th.jpg)

| Yea! very nice man! Love it.
For some reason the pics are really small... and when I click on it I just get sent to imageshake.us... Is there a way to get the bigger?
Thanks, | |

| Those bases are nice, what are they made of?
Best thing about vellejo colors is the white primer, it can paint over any color way better than with gw colors.

| Very nice basing JohnYoung! What is "gommette" exactly? Is it modelling putty? I love the word "gommette" though I always call it "pâte à modeller" which is a lot less funny. C'est super mignon comme mot je trouve "Gommette", la petite boule de gomme... haha. I also like your conversions a lot (especially the one with the warplock pistol). https://2img.net/r/ihimizer/img148/3967/img0476ww9.jpgYou're right, you should probably redo the paintjob if you find a quiet moment (very hard to find for me atm ). Don't forget, take your time for the shading. It will pay off in the end. _________________ ![John's warbands [Wip] Banner10](https://i.servimg.com/u/f24/11/50/97/81/banner10.gif) | |

| Thanks all . Since I still have base my Rat-Ogre, I'll do a little tutorial with step-by-step pics and post it here. I work a lot right now so it might take one week. @Tom: No its not model putty, its a pretty much like gum balloon but more sticky. It's normaly used to stick posters to the wall etc. | |
