Iffen ye be scrapin wit da Green, shows up unarmed lad. Dat be heroic! Smile

I think it depends on what you want them to do, or who you want them to fight. 2 axes to start would be my path, but if there's a Rat Ogre or a vampire around a great ax might be the ticket.

Later when you can afford it I'd go Dwarf axes all the way.

So a pair of Dwarf Axes would be the best for them to have allround?

unfortunatly double handed weapons are a very bad choice on slayers. They already got a skill allowing always to wound on 4+ so there is no need for any kind of strength bonuses. As usual going for two single handed weapons and maxing attacks this way is the best choice. Concerning dwarfaxes they are one of the very best single had weapon choices at all, but usualy starting dwars lack the money to acieve them early and have to start with common axes.

So yes i think dwarfaxes are the best weapon, but if u dont have the money go for 2 common axes.

Should be noted they need to learn the "always wound on 4+" skill, they dont start with it!
And im not sure how good it is in Mordheim, unless you meet something really really tough! It might be good then you have a strength of 3, but as soon as you get 4 you will have a good chance to wound most of the things in Mordheim. You wont meet that many opponents that has a toughness of 5 or more anyway!
I rather pick "Mighty blow", getting myself a +1S, getting a basic 3+ or 4+ to wound most of the things you encounter in Mordheim!

If there are Orc or Dwarfs aside from you then the Slayer skill 'always wound on a 4+' skill can be handy once the enemy has T5 and Resilient. Only worth getting it after you get Mighty Blow though.

Orcs and dwarf warbands are as you say the ones that it might be worth getting "Monster Slayer", but then I have faced orcs before maybe one henchmen group or one hero has its toughness increased, so even then I would question it... yes it will be annoying wounding those individualls on 5+, but the rest of the WB would be wounded on 4+ (if you have "Mighty Blow"), and as soon as I faced one of the other WB's I would wound on a 3+.

Doesnt really sound like a 2handed weapon on a slayer would be a good thing then

Personaly I like one slayer with 2hander - wounding on a 2+ vs t3 is great.

To start, I like giving them 1 Dwarf Axe and 1 other cheap or free weapon so they get a parry. The parry is needed to keep your hero numbers up because you aren't going to be starting with a large number of henchmen.

In my current dwarf warband, I started one with two hand weapons (I think he started with a dwarf axe, but he may have picked it up later), and the other with a great weapon. They have consistently stayed pretty close to each other in experience earned.

Note that a dwarf with a great weapon, no skills, wounds T4 on a 3+, but a dwarf with a hand weapon wounds with the slayer skill that always lets them wound on a 4+ obviously only wounds on a 4+...

My great weapon dwarf (if I remember correctly) took Strongman, Strike to Injure, and Mighty Blow in that order. (Mighty Blow might be a bit over the top, but he likes wounding things).

Agree with the dwarf axe mentiones here. I played a full slayer warband and equiped the lot with dwarf axes eventually. With all the parries you get (especcially with Master of Blades) my enemies were getting crazy over so much parries and succeeding in a lot of cases (with so much rolls you bend chance to your favor).
With a full slayer warband you can take slayers with double handed weapons as well (since you have more then the two in a dwarf treasurehunter warband).
My current treasurehunter warband that I just started have 2 slayers (of course!) with a dwarf axe and a regular axe each. These will be upgraded as soon as there's some gold to spend to 2 dwarf axes each.

I have now picked up 3 Slayers. 2 with 2 axes and 1 with a great axe. Should be able to run most lists with these

I'd give them 1 dwarf axe and a regular axe for a start. Once they get the skill with double attacks when charging - change to double handed (if they've advanced in attacks) - Last campaign I ended up with 6 strength 5 attacks while charging...
