Opposite warband to Dwarves?

I have just started playing Mordheim with a Dwarf warband.
They are alot of fun but I fancy doing a second Warband for abit of variety.
Who would you go for? And why?

I'd go for either Orcs & Goblins or a Goblin only War Band...I'm doing an UberGoblin[counts as Orcs]/Goblin War Band to offer opposition to Friend John's Dwarves. I figure they're in competition for the same living space, &, ergo, natural enemies...PLUS the minis are SO COOL.

I havent ever been a fan of greenskins. Of any type

Nor was I until I saw those renaissance orcs.

Wel... Skaven is pretty off from the greenskins.

There are already 2 Skaven bands at our club. Running a campaign soon so would rather give it abot of variety

Just go for Undead,

they are completly diffrent from dwarfs, no well eqiuped warriors no usr of armour and rarly axes. Mostly they dont even like beer, insted some like brains^^

the playstyle is very diffrent also, as the band is divided in some super slow models (even slower than dwarfs) and some very agile models.

Yeah, the zombies are very slow but the rest of the warband is eitehr regular speed (ghouls, Dreggs) or very fast (Vampires, Dire Wolves). Dore wolves may not run, but has a M of 9 and can charge 18"!

May head for the Undead next then.
I think I have narrowed my choices down to 3.
Mecenaries - Riek/Marien
Beastmen
Undead

I'd go with Reiklanders. A nice Mercenary warband can be used as a variety of types (Reiklanders, Marienburger and with a few additions even those from the Annual). We always found Undead to be a very slow warband. Having a few faster models is of little use if the others are slow. But it will depend on your henchman choices. I wouldn't go with another slowish warbands after playing dwarfs. Similarily, if you have a shooty dwarf warband then a shooty Reiklander warband might not be what you're looking for if you want a change.

What playing style did you have with the dwarfs and what are you looking for now? More hand-to-hand focus or more shooting? A balance of those?

Reiklanders are great at shooting but overall Mercenaries are also jacks-of-all-trades. Funnily Orcs & Goblins are also both ranged and close combat heavy as you can very well arm them with bows - worked great for a member of my group in our last campaign. You could also consider playing Chaos Dwarfs and see how different they are from the normal Dwarfs. But that again might nit be different enough (although you could just paint your dwarfs black and claim they're Black Dwarfs now ).

Actually I'd just go with the models and background of a warband and pick what I like best from that perspective. In the end, there are not ten different strategies you can follow and most warbands need a way to survive close combat anyhow. If you absolutely want a warband that focuses on missile fire then have a look at the Gunnery School of Nuln (from the Nemesis Crown supplement). Maneaters (BTB) and Marauders (BTB) are strongly focused on combat. Wizard School (or what they are called, from Letters of the Damned) are totally focusing on casting magic, and the Restless Dead (BTB) are an Undead warband with two spell-casters, led by a powerful Liche and they have zombie bombs too.

Just because BTB or storm of chaos isnt official doesnt mean you should avoid them. Those are about as official as your going to get outside of the standard warbands.

I say Undead prove to be an interesting choice. Or maybe the possessed!!
