I don't understand, if we are 6 to vote, me and Pfreck voting "no", it's strange you just have one vote for answer "no" scratch

Wow, this is a hard decision. But to be frank, I think that we are all a little tired of all the poll taking and since the last vote is void (only 4 people out of 6 voted, myself not included) I have taken a decision.
Should experienced warbands be allowed?
I carefully weighed the pros and cons of the question, and I ended up deciding that...

*** to be continued ***

PS: MUAHAHAHAH!

*** continued ***

Only starting warbands will be allowed. Not experienced ones.

Every player will have to field a warband worth 500gc (Marienburgers obviously will be allowed 600gc)and with only the base experience as described in the appropriate warband rules.

Why did I come to this decision? After a lot of pondering I felt that all in all the "contra" argument was stronger than the “pro” for 4 reasons:
1. Allowing experienced warbands is more game altering than just letting everyone start from scratch, due to extra equipment and special items.

2. It is harder for newbie gamers to confront experienced warbands than for experienced warband players to just start afresh. If you own an experienced warband, you don't have to throw away your old warband sheet before the event! Keep it! Just start a fresh warband with your "old" models. And if after the meeting you feel like reverting back to your old warband for your regular gaming group, no one will stop you from doing that Smile

3. It avoids all this underdog business, which is quite unbalanced and really just a last resort.

4. It is a chance for experienced players to maybe even try a new warband they have never played before!

Although I voted for allowing experianced warbands, I appreciate your decision, it's just the simpliest way, and everyone can live with that.

Same odds for everyone, so the games shouldn't be very unfair.

Exactly Erk.

I was also pro-experienced at the beginning, but it's really just simpler and fairer this way.

I agree ... - this does however lead up to one small question, ...with which equipment should I equip my models?

1) what they happen to start with?
2) what they will almost for certain gain at some point?
3) what I (more theoretical, ie. a blunderbuss for my dwarf noble) might like them to gain at some point?

(or would u recommend alternative models ...so that ie. my dwarf noble would be represented by different models, depending on his equipment?)

If you don't equip them with the equipment they are meant to start with, that goes against WYSIWYG.

Boehm wrote:

If you equip them with equipment that they are certain to gain a somepoint but have not gained yet, that goes against WYSIWYG.

Boehm wrote:

If you equip them with what you "might like them to gain at some point" but have not gained yet, that is - once more - against WYSIWYG.

Here's a crazy idea though: why don't you equip them with what you ACTUALLY bought for them? Very Happy

YEEES ...but how about when u then later aquire OTHER equipment?? ...or would u then not be allowed that ?!?

EDIT: one of the dwarven advantages is the access to a rather large pool of equipment ...which I would not be able to raise the funds for pre-campaign?

I mean in general what fun is the skill of weaponmaster, which enables u to use "other" equipment if u are then not allowed to use it due to What-u-see-is-what-u-get rule?? - and I dont really believe there will be time to modify models in between games or what do u reckon?

I see what you mean Boehm.

But i am sure that you have an idea of what equipement you want your warriors to ultimately have. Am I right? Surely you dream of a gromril armour and/or a two handed weapon for that champion of yours! Smile

Try to make up your mind before hand, so that you can build the models in advance.

But don't worry too much: if for example, you have a model wielding 2 axes, and you decide for some reason that you would prefer to have 1 axe and 1 hammer, you won't have to change the whole model. We will just count one axe as a hammer Smile No big deal.
(as long as the buying did occur according to the rules of course!)

Really Boehm, I think you worry too much about WYSIWYG Very Happy I am sure you will be the one respecting it the most Wink

I have a solution : I'll bring some extra stuff to "stick" on my dwarves back when they'll gain some XP Smile
And I think the original stuff is quite useful during all the campaign, so we don't have to change it a lot ! (I'm very happy to see we'll play a new warband, it would be so boring if I have to take one of my old warband Neutral )

Slight correction:
Ye Olde Curiosity Shoppe (Mordheim Annual, p 84ff): Rabbit's Foot, ...
Opulent Goods (Mordheim Annual, p 16): Wyrdstone Pendulum, Tarot cards, ...

No, of course not. I should have specified "special equipment only from the rulebook". Any equipment that is specific to your race (and in your warband rules) is, of course, allowed.

I had a thought (not as dangerous as when Deafnala does it, but dangerous):

What if we (Tom) compiles together a list of the "Tom's Boring House rules" using all these little notes and more.... I guess you're kind of already doing that.

But... (don't hate me cianty Wink) you could expand it a little further, as you continue to play. for example... if you find that NOONE ever uses a spear, change the price to 7gc... or w/e And if Skaven is still ridiculously unbalanced, allow only 1 black skaven (now 5 starting heros), etc.

Just some thoughts....
(I wanted to start a wiki Mordheim Rules... I just don't play enough to really judge from experience...)
