Warband Rating and Adding Henchmen

We are having our second game tonight trying to learn the rules, and so did all the post battle sequence after the first game.

The section on recruiting has raised a question:

It states that the cost of a henchman is its base cost plus 2gc for each experience point it adds to the warband. Does this mean that if i am adding one goblin to a group of three, who already have 2xp,it costs me 15gc for the goblin and another 4 because i have to pay for the 2xp he has to have to join that group?
This gives me the option of starting a new henchman group with no xp for 15gc?


Following on from the statement "for each experience point it adds to the warband" does this mean that the group of 4 henchmen with 2xp count as 8 xp when working out the warband rating, or just the 2 for the group?
