| Hey all, The Mordheim in Limburg project is advancing nicely. However, I am having some trouble in even standing up to the other Warbands. Normally I fight Skaven Orcs and Beastmen (and soon Undead). However I have until now never won a game against any of them. The Orc and Beastmen pose the biggest troubles, their large number of attacks, high toughness mean that I can hardly stand up to them.My list is the following. Questing Knight with Great Weapon, a sword and a Helmet. This guy hates the Orc Warband after an encounter with a Choppa Knight Errant with a Sword and Hammer Knight Errant with a Sword and Hammer Squire, Hammer and Sword, Helmet. Mighty Blow Squire, Sword, Long Bow, Old Battle Wound and Pitfighter Squire, Sword, Bow, 2 Wounds(Now) 5 Seperate Bowmen henchmen groups, Axes (with +1Ld)Currently I have 8 Shards of Wyrdstone and 24 GCI am thinking of kicking one Bowmen, and equip the rest with Bows. Then add 2 Men-at-arms with hammers.Furthermore although although the Questing Knight with Great Weapon is just cool and correct storywise I am thinking of adding a Hammer. More attacks, more chance of landing a hit with superior Strenght, Initiative and WS. I am using the 'standard/official' Bretonnian Warband Rules. What do you guys think? | |

| My novice advice is to certainly get some bows for your bowmen, Orcs and Beastmen aren't all that shooty (Beastmen especially) so I hear the best tactic is pincushioning them.
Maybe a newb question, but why haven't you sold the Wyrdstone?

| Basically, I didn't have time between battles to find out what I wanted to buy.So the second battle came quick and I couldn't spend it. | |

| bowmen with bows? MADNESS! *insert 300 reference here* just pulling your chain , but seriously if your having problems "krumpin' wit da boyz" perhaps a stand back and shoot to thin out their numbers might be a better approach if getting stuck in it isn't going according to the plan. also does your knight have strongman? as cool s 2h are going last against I2 orcs is lame, if your don't have strongman i'd say stick with a halbred or dual-wielding or sword and board (or mace or axe) untill you can. other than that i've only played brets once, and not to be cocky, but i roflstomped them with my stupid OP undead warband, not to mention he had his teeth kicked in by orcs the game before, and so that is where all my advice ends really. if you can't seem to get a leg up on your opponents then just send in the expendables rout and start stacking up gold and skills till you can | |

So you lose a few games... well that might work... but sounds chicken. Also Dual-Wielding Bretonnians aren't really Bretonnians... Heavy Armour and Shield are basically standard... maybe a few 2 handed weapons. IMO the bretonnian warband is unbalanced. To weak for CC and Knights can't shoot.... so all EXP for kills are going to henchmen... so are lost!

| The Bretonnians should be run as any other Human Warband. I would say stay away from using the Warhorses. They are very expensive for their benefit. To make a Warhorse and Knight effective the both need Heavy armor and barding.
Questing Knight: 80 gold
Heavy Armor: 50 gold
Sword: 5 gold
Shield: 5 gold
Warhorse: 80 gold
Barding 30 gold
Total: 250 gold For One Guy. Leaving 250 gold for the rest of the War Band. Do this and he’s a target for Shooters. If he runs into battle with the speed of the horse, he stands alone. Sure he passes the alone check but wide open to be surrounded by a max of 6 enemy models at one time. I would consider that bad odds.
Instead: Arm anyone who can use a missile weapon with one. And SHOOT! If the enemy can’t make it into HtH and route; You WIN! Even Squires could get lucky. Let the Shooters provide an added danger to the enemy while the Fighters move in. Get the Shooters up high and they can pick targets. SNIPERS anyone! Keep the Squires out of battle and way in the back. Three guys (weak fighters) looking for Wyrdstone and not getting killed, is always good.
