| So, I have a bunch of little rare earth magnets that I haven't used. I was thinking that with all the weapon options in Mordheim, it would be cool if you could swap them out. I'm working on an Orc warband now, which would probably make it easier seeing as they have large bodies and arms.
Has anybody tried it, with any success? For me, I am kind of a stickler for WYSIWYG. Plus it would save the cost of buying new models. Just swap out some parts and you're done!

| I'm magnetizing to an extent. Some arms I do magnetize, some I don't. I think magnetizing takes away certain options like dynamic posing, etc that can make some models look really nice. I also don't mind making extras and all that, so I'm fine with. As an example, For my Possessed I am making. 1 Brethren has one arm that is magnetized, and the other that is glued in has a magnetizable shield for it. For my double handed weapons/flails on Darksouls/Beastmen, I have magnetized the weaponhead rather than the arms. My Mutants I am a bit unsure about. My Scorpion tail mutant will have it's arms magnetized. Not sure about my Extra arms guy (I may make magnetizable arms, with the extra arm being attached to one of them. So I can swap out for Tentacles, etc). My Magister I'm not done yet, but the original idea was only his main weapon on his belt (Since his pose is outstretched arm just having been sliced with a dagger to use Dark Blood spell) has been magnetized. So yeah, I can see it from both directions. Magnetizing is good for WYSIWYG but also takes away some modelling opportunities. | |

| YES! magnets for me baby!!
As cianty linked you to my averlanders, they are indeed magnetized... that is, the ones that need it... (henchmen rarely get new weaponry.. so I use it for my heroes mainly) I've magnetised their arms, heads, and backs (for extra slots - weapons, armour, backpacks etc.) and some arms have shield options in them as well.
I made some spare arms for the other weapons, and took care to make my arms interchangeable among models. though my captain features awesome clothing, and therefore, has his own set.
the heads I like to make magnetic so you can actually have models missing their eyes or gain helmets etc.
Have a look through the thread, and you'll find out.
I reccomend it! though the cloack options are harder to model.

| I also magnetized my Marauders of Chaos so I can switch between weaponry and on foot and mounted models. Also, I intend to magnetize the arms of the Condemned to be able to really have him warp all the time | |

| Oh god, Pathfinder Dubstyles hasn't seen this yet. If anyone is obsessed with magnets, it's him. EVERYTHING he has is magnetized, heads, arms, shields, etc... I am sure he hasn't seen this post yet. Hehe. I wanna magnetize some things, but it seems too much trouble for me! | |

| It's actually fairly easy, just get yourself a drill at the same diameter the magnets are, and drill away... just keep track of the polarity! that's a very important thing to remind yourself of. If you have a few arms which don't fit on certain models... you are bound to get bummed out... Therefore I advise to have one mastermodel, so you can check all limbs to that one, and then work your way to the next model. that way you'll never have to worry about polarity... same goes for spare Items... (Me and Sascha have even gone as far as to make sure we cling to the same polarity so we can switch weapons among each other! ) | |

| Yeah... I accidentally did that on the Spawn I was going to use as my Possessed. Although, not a huge problem, just that the left and right arms have different polarities (Which at the very least, you'll know if you're putting a left arm in the right arm slot!). What I've found as a good way, is I attach the magnet to an existing model and then paint the side that is showing. That way I know which side has to go in what direction. | |

| While I have not done any Mordheim warband with magnets, I have done some Space Marines. I found it best to: - Put a magnet on the body for one arm (hand) socket.
- WAIT for glue to dry... CRITICAL!
- Use that socket as the 'template'... drop a magnet in top of it, and mark it. Now you know the magnet side that goes inside arm (hand) socket!
- Rinse and repeat with all weapons for that arm (hand).
- Use the arm (hand) magnet as a 'template' for the OPPOSITE arm (hand) socket. i.e. Right arm should stick to left arm.
- Use that new 'template' to know the magnet that goes in the model's body.
