| Just found a few pics of the new Fantasy Forgeworld division: Warhammer Forge... A lot of very nice models, some of which will be coming my way asap (Imperial upgrade packs for state troops), but this one really got my attention! Amazing alternative for a steamtank! This is how I wanted my airship to look... | |

Now that's exactly what my wife said! On Games Day UK they previewed a whole bunch of cool models... This was the one which caught my attention. I have a small update for you... I updated my gate... I added two griffons from the fortified mansion set. They still need some paint but the gate is looking mighty fine... I also updated one of my bridges... Nothing fancy, just a few posts and a shield, but adding little details like this is great fun (and not even that much work) and really make this city a place worth fighting over. As always, your feedback is greatly appreciated, so please let me know what you think.

| That land ship is pretty neat. I would love to see some more pictures of the different forgeworld items for WHF (I know it is a bit off topic though). I like the added details. It is nice to see different ways of adding simple details. I agree that the details help to make a piece come alive. Good work as always!
Another question for you; how have you found having the permanent canals in terms of gameplay? Does it make movement awkward or more tactical? I am planning a board and I want to add some canals so it would be great to hear any tips or feedback you have on building and using them. Thanks!

The permanent canals add some tactical choices, I have enough bridges so they don't slow the game down but you have to work your way around those few points of crossing. Adding the bridges above street level, as can be seen in the last few posts, adds even more posibilities. It limits the placing of buildings somewhat, but not much as the different sections are large enough to accomodate at least one or two buildings with room to spare. As for the construction, please check out my log on Warseer, there you can follow the project from the very beginning (I started this thread halfway through the project). I also got a small update for you all... FBI (friend of mine) dropped by this evening and this time we weren't distracted by an XBoX 360 and some violent game (not long anyway) so we even managed to put some textured paint on some of the buildings. I can't promiss you that I'll undercoat some of them this weekend, but you can always hope Also, I'm proud to present you with the latest (and quite probably last, as I have no more space) statue... A 'gift' from FBI (who got it from another mutual friend to use as a mount for one of his pansy elves). After some weeks of carefull nagging he finally remembered to bring it over tonight... All pinned and glued (yes, FBI, I've been busy!). The base of this statue will be a little more elaborate than the others, somewhere between a regular statue and 'fool's fountain' (found near the bottom of page 26 of this thread), probably with some form of metal fence... As always, your feedback is greatly appreciated, so please let me know what you think...

| I've got a small update for you... I continued work on my latest statue... I only need to add some low fences, in the same style as my other walls and the gate. As you can see, the style is largely the same as with the other statues, only the base is bigger and will include some fencing. As always, your feedback is greatly appreciated, so please let me know what you think | |

| Three posts in a row... Anyway, time for a little update!!! I've completed my latest statue. I added the fencing which I made to resemble the fences used in the walls. I even painted the damn thing! As you can see it's quite a solid construction. I really like the feel of this piece, it's obvious the person depicted by this statue is (or was) very important! And the finished piece on the board. I like the way it fits in with the rest of the board, the walls and other statues... More bridges are on their way as I replenished my stock of balsa wood! As always, your feedback is greatly appreciated, so please let me know what you think. | |

| Thanks for the feedback! Things are quite busy here at the moment (school/work, new XboX games and my wive who demands the occasional moment of my time) but the project hasn't been forgotten... Here's a quick update on what's been keeping me busy (hobby-wise): Two weeks ago I attended Crisis 2010 in Antwerpen. I purchased quite a few interesting models (some of those will be made into new statues) and some other bits and pieces... Some of those pieces have already been put to good use in a new mold... More boxes and crates to fill my city... I also have been fortunate enough to aquire a Tower of Sorcery... To begin with, the thing is HUGE (comes in a box the size of an army deal), so you certainly get enough plastic for your cash! There are a few downsides though... First up is the fact you only get the parts to build the tower, so no sprues filled with cool extra bits like the previous scenery sets. Second, the tower isn't as detailed as the other sets. It lacks a certain 'sharpness' to the details. I was going to canbalise the kit for cool bits, but there aren't any and the features that are there are a bit to blurred to use for molds. That said, it most certainly is an impressive piece of kit and I do like it very much! I also made quite a discovery at everybody's favorite Swedish furniture giant... Plastic, dirt cheap and you get a lot of the things... Plastic hooks! Ready to be used for various things like fences and supports... As always, your feedback is greatly appreciated, so please let me know what you think... | |

| Cool looking boxes, those hooks have all sorts of potential uses, & I'd rather not think about what ubercool minis are going to be condemned to the unlife of a statue. Have FUN with all the new stuff! | |

| Just got home from work and I decided to get you some pictures sooner rather than later... Here's most of what's going into the new mold... The cloaked figure from the Tower of Sorcery, two shields from the Fortified mansion, the two signs (just the sign, not the supports) from the same set (I'll use these two to get both sides) and a shield from the Empire State Troopers set. I'll probabely add some more shields, but I have to search for the best designs... Furthermore, I've got a question for you... At Crisis 2010 in Antwerpen I picked up this mini. I intended to use it for a statue (yes, another one) but now I have my doubts... Obviously, all the 40K nonsense would be removed from the mini (fortunately not much). What do you say; yes or no??? The plan is to make something bigger than usual, complete with metal fencing... As always, your feedback is greatly appreciated, so please let me know what you think... | |

| While my opinions on these thingies are, at best, of dubious worth, I think the Old Cleric would make a pretty cool St. Voller (of cemetery fame) statue. AND, the Cloaked Figure is VERY COOL & MORDHEIMY. | |

| I deem the model rather cool, though for a statue he needs to have a point shouting like he does in my opinion...
maybe make it a bit of a duel, or have him towering over a bunch of flagelants or heretics? (that would make an awesome base, though requires a lot of sculpting and modelling... make them part of the base, huddled up together, clawing at themselves, others and the base, and have the priest on top of it converting for his dear life?)

Your opinion is highly valued (and rightly so)! Last night I finished the other bits for the mold and today I will mix up some silicon to finish the mold. The cloaked figure is very nice indeed, maybe a bit too big, but I will find a use (or two) for it... - Quote :

That's quite a good idea! I should have some Flagellant's lying around somewhere... I'll see if I can make it work, otherwise it wil just be another 'boring' normal statue As an afterthought... How is your little harpist doing? As always, your feedback is greatly appreciated, so please let me know what you think...

| Here are the results of my latest mold... A near perfect cast (just a few very tiny bubbles), even the shields came out great. The cloaked figure is a bit big, but I can make that work... The small shields are just the pieces I needed to fill some 'gaps' in the detail departement and the signs will look great on my new signposts. Check back soon for some more pics of those pieces used in the city. As always, your feedback is greatly appreciated, so please let me know what you think! | |

What are you using for your molds?

| Thanks for all the feedback and questions! Update's are a bit slow at the moment. The festive season is nearly upon us and that means it's a busy couple of weeks at work. Just another week and a half and I have a nice two week vacation... - Quote :
- I like the cloaked figure from the tower. Is it the only bit or did you cut it off?
No, it's not a separate bit, I had to cut it out from one of the supports and fill the gaps with green stuff... The result is quite good none the less. The tower has a lot of very nice details, unfortunately most of them are a bit curved (it's a round tower) and thus can't be used for my project. - Quote :
- OOOOOOOOH! The Cloaked Figure turned out TERRIFIC...other pieces are equally cool.
Thanks! The cloaked figure is very, very nice! Just wait until you see the finished product... - Quote :

What are you using for your molds? I use high grade plaster for casting... It gives a better result then standard plaster and makes for much sturdier blocks and pieces. There's another batch curing right now even as I am typing this... For my molds I use a two part silicon rubber. There's a tutorial somewhere in my thread. EDIT: It's on page 12, halfway down... - Quote :

| I've got a nice little update for you... I've given my pigeon loft quite a little overhaul... I cut of the bottom half of the standard and replaced it with something a bit more elaborate. Here's the before shot... At the time I was quite pleased with the way this little project turned out... And here are the new pics! Bigger then the first version! What's left of the old standard can be seen on the right side... Last weekend I managed to cast another four of the new cloaked figures and I just had to use them on something. I used all four of them, one on each side, cutting a thin strip from the left side to make them fit. The cut isn't that obvious and when painted it should be nigh invisible... These guys will be seen on some of my buildings in the not to distant future... As always, your feedback is greatly appreciated, so please let me know what you think. | |
