| That's very nice foot.
I like it a lot. The different rock sizes fit together nicely.
What kind of foam did you use?

| Thanks Foot.
I'm on the verge of doing this exact same thing (4 2x2 boards) I'm just not satisfied with any of the foam I've found. Tom says in Europe he bought "Styradour," and he said by pressing on it with a pen, you can make grooves. Is this what you did?
I'm in the states, and can only find "blue foam" which has a papery material on each side that just tears...
I'm trying to find foam like yours. Any other ideas/tips?
Thanks, | |

| thanks da bank. no templates were used, took me awhile took me about an hour or two i think.
@ashton indeed thats what i did, but i used a blunt pencil witch sort of works the same. I sorta rang up afew hardware places first but they dident have any but could order it for me, so i just went to an art shop and found it there. im still trying to find better stuff, i sorta want the smooth stuff like Toms. so i have also been asking around for styadour. Not sure about where else you could find some, would just be best to keep looking around. Some more ideas for my board was to have a river thru it, with some bridges and bits like that.

| Cool thnx for the info Foot. Eventually, I'm going to make a table similar to this one: http://www.terragenesis.co.uk/infopages/page260.htmlI freaking love how that is set up. It makes a great system to create elevation... although re-evaluating it now... it may be totally useless... but we'll see l8r | |

Right. Actually, i was just talking about how the table is made. With hollow spots below so you can do a river/sewer and, it's modular. peace,

| Very nice! You managed to get a homogenous colour (the miracle or airbrushing I suppose). Maybe you can do the shading with the airbrush too. Because I find that "drybrushing" a large surface with a 7cm broad brush - like I did - is a pain in the ass. I am very curious how it turns out (and have always envied airbrush owners _________________ | |

| thanks tom. i can see how dry brushing the whole thing would be a pain, when i gave that one piece i drybrushed took longer than i thought it would, but it ldoes make it look better. Well i still have to find some more bits for the rest of the board now and then i will be updating more. Btw anyone see the secret little skull in there somewhere? -Foot | |

| This is awesome. Good job mate.
Its true. Drubrushing large sections (i.e. my board) is a serious pain in the ass. Takes a long time to get it all looking the same over the whole table. I gave up eventually. I'm thinking about changing mine's colour from brown to grey if I have enough time (and if i've forgotten how annoying it was to drybrush last time) before Uni starts back.
Cheers ~ Steve | |
