First Dagger Free: per person/warband?

When I read "1st Free/2gc" I thought it meant, per warband. So when you start your warband, you get one free dagger to give to whoever you want, and the rest of the daggers are 2gc.

But I've seen people play with each person in your warband gets 1 free dagger... The problem with that is... Who would get two daggers? I mean seriously...

If you can also tell me where you got your information from ( I have the old book=/)

The free dagger is per model. I don't know where exactly in the rulebook this can be found but I am sure you'll find it if you look for it.

That's what I thought... but I haven't found it anywhere. =( I'll even look again now. Oh even better: Let's open the PDF Mordheim Manual and search for the word dagger! ( I love computers)

The Rules PDF:
Page 19: Mentions daggers when talking about attacking with multiple weapons
Page 24: Weapons & Armor -> Dagger: Describes the dagger and the +1 enemy armour save

Warbands PDF:
Page 2: You don't have to have the daggers on your actual physical model (it can be hidden)
Page 3: This looks Promising:

"Each warrior you recruit can be armed with up to two
close combat weapons (in addition to his free
dagger),"

Doesn't say specifically, but I think that settles it. Is this what everyone is using as a rule?


Campaigns PDF:
Page 2: After a battle, and you hire guys, it says:
"Hire new recruits & buy common items. New
recruits come equipped with their free dagger"

Even more conclusive, but this is only talking about hiring more guys after a battle.

(You may not have wanted to hear all of that.... TOO BAD =] Muhahahh. I felt like typing it )

So from what I can tell it never specifically says that guys you buy at the beginning of the game come with a free dagger, but I'll play that way, it's cool with me.

If you really want to help, you could point me to the page in the rule book that states it. I noted the two spots that mentioned it or said you get it when recruiting new guys for your warband, but not starting it. lol

You really don't have to. I believe the Mordheim Community =)

As you've already mentioned:

*New recruits come with their free dagger.
*The daggers are listed as "1st free/2gc" in each and every warband equipment list
*because I say so.

Btw maybe we should open a "Short question- short answer" thread(sticky of course), where one posts a question(for example: "Is the first dagger always free?") and someone else post a short answer("Yes it is, see page XY").

A FAQ you mean? While I think this is a good idea, I doubt that people will have the reflex of checking there first. I think people are more inclined to ask straight away.
And I don't think that is a problem. So, there are some short lived threads, big deal!

Not every thread has to be 3 pages long, so if some are straighforward and come to the point directly, all the better.

I say we see how it develops. If the need for a FAQ subsits I'll reconsider!
