| Does anyone know where I can find some examples of Warhammer Amazon names? The fluff in their article says they're descended from Norsemen, but I imagine after sometime in Lustria and having "adopted the trappings of the Lizardman culture," their names might have changed as well. Any thoughts? | |

| Tyr getting hold of a copy of The Twelve Tasks of Hercule, the Amazons are based on some characters in that (strangely enough, they're called Amazons and they're a tribe of warrior-women). | |

| Thanks! On your suggestion, I found this: http://www.whoosh.org/issue12/ruffel3.html Maybe after I learn more about Lizardman naming conventions, I can do some mix-and-matching with those Greek names, Nordic names, and Lizardman names to find a satisfactory result. | |

| Well there are five names mentioned in the fluff of the warband list. Googling of each finds:
Dekala - A city in Nigeria. A mountain in Bosnia? Remela - A city in Algeria. A portuguese word meaning eye gunk. Mandra - Greek town. Greek word meaning yard. Shaekal* - Unique to the amazon warband. Wendala - Town in Sri Lanka.
* Shaekal is an amazon god, not an amazon warrior.
All the names except Shaekal turned up results of actual people with those names, although it was not discernable what the ethnicity of those individuals was. I'd say stay away from Norse and Aztec/Incan themed names. Greek names could possibly work as well as some from Africa perhaps.

| If memory serves, the leader (in Hercules) had a solid gold girdle, me wanty! Anyway, send pics of your Amazons, when they're done (and tell us how you found playing them, I've never met anyone who plays them). | |

| Well, the rules look kind of broken (as in overpowered). Their items are ridiculously overpowered for their price. I'm thinking about changing the "No Save" rule of the Sunstaff, Sun Gauntlet, and Claw of the Old ones to just normal "Armor Piercing." I'm also keeping slings at a cost of at least 5 gc (they're listed as 5 gc, but some people might want to move them back to 2 gc). These considerations are making me reconsider whether or not I want to play an Amazon warband. All the same, I enjoy designing warbands on paper, even if I have little intention of playing them (due to time constraints). | |

They're a bunch of girls who run around naked with arcane magic items. - Quote :

Try playing the game man. It is a lot more enjoyable than sitting around trying to re-write existing rules. I have a Canadian friend who is an experienced role-player. On occasion we get together with friends for some games of Mordheim. I collected some Amazon models and so 'Canada' always plays with these. It is always very entertaining and thoroughly enjoyable to play Mordheim with the 'Cad' and his girl-power war party! I would thoroughly recommend this warband to anyone. Regards, Werekin.
