Well, if you really want them to be Nipponese (is that the right word?), then
A) they are very unlikely to be found in Cathay (like in China you won't find Samurais running around), although I guess GW would add them as a regiment to a Cathayan Warhammer army simply because it would be "cool"
B) I don't know about good Nippon warband rules

So personally I would use them as "Cathayan Knights" (or "Nippon Fallen Knights"*) and use the rules for the Bretonnia warband.

*"Ronin" is not really a GW word as of now so we didn't use it in the BTB book and I'd stay away from actual historic references like "Daimyo" etc.

You can also use two of the Samurai models as Knights Vanguards for the Merchant Caravan. The armour could be Cathayan lamellar armour.

Thanks Cianty, I will go read the Bretonnia rules and see if I like them.

I happened to be reading the issue of Town Cryer with Bretonnians this morning. I've never really been interested in Bretonnians though. Nipponese warriors may work quite well as counts-as Bretonnians I reckon. Bit more interesting I think.

As far as the Cathay/Nippon thing goes, I think there is a lot of crossover in the GW backround. You could quite likely mix the two areas together without upsetting all but the most lawyer like individuals. After all, Cathay and Nippon are not historical China and Japan, they are just influenced by them. Go with what you think is cool.
