| Hi Everyone,
I have a new member of our game group who wants to play Dark Elves. So I was wondering what you folks think about them. I looked at the list and it seems a bit overpowered. Most have WS 5 or 4, and the Dark Elf Equipment list is amazingly powerful. Thoughts? Accommodations? |

| The equipment is good but expensive. If you buy it at the start then you will have a very small warband.
Henchmen are also expensive, makes any losses a real problem.
There was a Dark Elf player in one of my old campaigns and they never created any problems. I'd say they were fine.
Something to bear in mind is that the Sea Dragon Cloak works slightly differently than the WFB version. The Mordheim one can't be combined with light or heavy armour but has an improved base save.

| I have never played with or against them but I did hear a lot of bad things about the list being unfair. But as Catferret said, maybe they are not. If you decide to allow them in your group, please post some feedback after a couple of games and let us know how the games went. | |

| iI have always allowed them in my campaigns.
As a Game Master you just need to watch adn see if they get too ubber powerful but to date that has never happened in the 9 years I have been playing but with that said it seems to be happened in other people's groups.

Thanks for your impressions, Andy. This does sound good. I do remember Flavio complaining about Dark Elves (all Elves actually) on the SG Forum. I will go with you two guys' impressions. The many random factors in Mordheim (or any tabletop) can make a warband (irrespective of the type) go totally uber, but this doesn't always have to be an indicator for unbalancedness.

| I agree with the original games developers on this. Dark elves along with high and wood elves are not appropriate for the Mordheim setting. | |

| I've never played them, but the people at my group say the Lustria rules are pretty balanced. And at least on paper, they are no stronger than, say, the Dwarf Treasure Hunters (and paper-wise, MUCH more fair than the Shadow Elves.) | |
