In compiling equipment for Sartosa, It has come to my attention that there are currently two versions for Javelins:

The New Pit Fighters Rules:
Javelins- Cost: 10 gold crowns
Range: 10" Strength: As User
SPECIAL RULES Thrown Weapon: Does not suffer from to hit penalties for moving and shooting. May not be used in Close Combat.

LUSTRIA RULES
Javelins- Cost: 5 gold crowns
Range: 8" Strength: As User
SPECIAL RULES Thrown Weapon: Does not suffer from to hit penalties for moving and shooting. May not be used in Close Combat.

So, it seems to me, that there's three options:
1. Pick one javelin

2. Separate them into two javelins (light and heavy) and include both, as written (or, with a possible change in price, so they are closer together.)

3. Separate them into two javelins (light and heavy) and tweak the rules a little, so they are more different. I suggest adding a +1 Enemy Armor Save to the Light Javelin, like a dagger.)

If we went with option 3, Skinks would have access to Light Javelins, and Norse would have access to Heavy.

Another reason I bring it up was the notion/house rule that Ungors in a Beastmen warband be able to access javelins of some kind... would make sense that the weedy cowards would throw sharpened sticks, and fits the style.

You are pretty much spot on.

One was created for Lustria and another for the City.

Use the one for wihcih setting you are in.

I would definietly 'vote for' option 3. The options/chages you've suggested seem very fair too [soo basically you can pay 5 gc more to get 2" better range and loose the +1 to armor saves].

Oh, and 'Hi Styro'! *Waves*

I don't agree at all.. since many of my skinks use javelins, i think they should have 24" range, no penalties whatsoever and ignore the dwarf special rules..

Pwny: I think mine should have a 240" inch range, so I can hit heroes in other games pirat .

Well, Sartosa is officially using the Lustria javelins now. I added them to the Equipment section, just to clarify which Javelin rules to use.

Now, we just have to solve the THROWING axe problem...

Well, for a while, I was debating about getting a Gromril dagger, before I came to realize that it was a 8gc weapon with no strengths or weaknesses. rabbit
