Hey-o! I'm Dave "Styrofoam King" Joria, more commonly seen at the Specialist Games Forum than this one (sorry, I've been busy.) For the last year or two, I've been trying to spearhead the creation and playtesting of a new Campaign Setting, Sartosa: City of Pirates! While it won't be included on the site for another few months, I was hoping to include other Pirate Model conversions in it. Even better, if you have a step by step guide or pictures of unfinished models to compare before and after.

(especially since I don't have a camera, to take pics of mine...)

ANY neat piratey conversions are welcome, regardless of race. But here's the breakdown of 'new' pirate warbands in the set:

*HUMAN PIRATES
~Estalian Corsairs
~Wasteland Privateers
~Bretonnian Buccaneers (think feathers and dueling pistols)
~Pirates of the Cathayan Sea (Cathay AND Nippon)

*KHORNE RAIDERS - Hefty warriors, cannibal cabin boys, and flayerkins. They wear Toughened Leathers made out of their enemies' skin.

*DWARF SLAYER PIRATES

*GHOST PIRATES - Ghosts, skeletons, cursed humans, and zombie swabbies.

*ARABY SMUGGLERS - Like the Araby Tomb Raiders. Slaves, a fat merchant hero, and Janissary marines on loan from the shieks.

*LOTHERN SEA PATROL

Boy did you ever come to the RIGHT PLACE! In the Battle Reoprt/Fluff section check out the Flame On [club name] Sartosa Campaign [done in BOTH Mordheim & WHFB modes]. They also have a fine forum www.flameon.co.uk that IS most definitely forth checking out.

In the Historical gaming section cianty has a guide to pirate models for Legends of the High Seas. Like EVERYTHING cianty does, it's thorough & VERY WELL thouht out.

Yeah, as Nala said, have a look at the FlameOn stuff. It can be found here as well, in the Battle Reports and Fluff section.
Especially the Orc pirates of Warboss Kurgan are freaking awesome (Miniatues gallery), as are the pics of blessed knights Dogs of War pirate army (Fantasy section).

Mine you have seen already, if you like I could compile a list of bits used for them.

None dark elf corsair-pirate type warband?

So many fluff about dark elf pirates warbands (without coldones, beastmasters, witches, sorceress, etc... and their fights vs Skinriders (nurgle pirates) on the Bretonnian coasts:

Skinriders worship a god of decay. Therefore, their skin literally rots away. They attack ships belonging to the dark elves as they return from raiding for slaves. Skinriders consider flesh as treasure and take as many slaves and prisoners as possible from the ships. These poor souls are skinned alive as tribute to their god and for new skin to adhere to their own rotting bodies.

Pyyr: Well the High Elf 'Lothern Sea Patrol' Warband is very much inspired by the Lustria Dark Elf warband, so I went by the idea of 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it.' The Lustria Dark Elves are a recommended warband in Sartosa, and all of their heroes (except their spellcaster) has access to the new Pirate Skills chart; such a bonus is only reserved for Seafaring warbands, like Marienburgers and Tileans.

Although, now that you mention it, maybe they should be able to recruit Swabbies too... hmm.

I am currently running a sartosa Mordheim campaign as well. I am personally building pirates and will be happy to share pics of my models - though very few are conversions... mostly just an oddball collection of appropriate models

They are not going to be painted to a golden demon level but are looking good so far. Ill put up the first pics in the next couple days

Kurgan: While I refer to them as Swabbies whenever Tim Hicklebury did, I DO use the term Press Gang more often (it's that name/objective of a Scenario, actually.)

Also, I've seen more than one oooold Pirate Movie that included Belaying Pins as thrown weapons. It may not be pirate fact, but it works for fiction.

Slayer Pirate warband? hell yeah! when's you're setting coming out man?

Free Booter has added a couple of Ubercool Goblin Pirates to their line. One of them has a VERY large caliber pistol/one-handed blunderbuss. COOL STUFF!

When's it coming out? Well, a week ago, I posted 'next week'.... so, unfortunately, I'm forced to follow the Microsoft School of "When it's done" release date. I promise to post it here as soon as it is. Definitely within the month.

Free Booter & Scorpion: Geez, I've spent years on the SG website, where even MENTIONING a non GW miniature is scolded. Though, part of me wants to avoid openly endorsing other companies within the Sartosa pdfs. If there's a shot of a warband, and it's 2/3rds gw models, that's cool, but I think posting a list of "Other companies that make better models" might be calling down the thunder. Not sure I want to role those dice (although, so long as it's not included in the pdf, i guess I could make a list of them on the same website. Hmm..)

FreeBooter has added a couple more Goblin Pirates. As always Werner the K's work is JUST stunning. These guys look rather Rackhamish to moi, which isn't a bad thing.
