 Quick question regarding hiring new henchmen

I guess you guys solved the very same question many times before, but Im just able to find a single post regarding this issue, and I need stronger feedback to solve it for my current campaign.

What number would be required in the 2d6 dice roll after the battle to hire a new henchmen for an existing group of, for example, 3 Reikland marksmen with 3 exp? 3 or 9?

More than one answer would be appreciated. Thank you.

Three because you're only hiring the one henchman to add to an existing group who have three xp each.

What Sade said: in that example you would need at least a 3 to add a henchman. Once added, the group would have a Group Experience of 12, as it would include 4 henchmen, each with 3 experience. Otherwise it would become impossible to add to some more experienced henchman groups (eg a group of 3 henchmen each with 5xp require an xp roll of 5+ to add a new member; if it were a roll of group xp, you would need an unobtainable 15!).

So just the basic value on the Experience Track, not the Group value.
