It does seem like there should be some sort of penalty for bringing an unpainted warband on campaign. Maybe the shame is punishment enough. Or, maybe they just suffer the wrath of the Dice Gods, given they lost a battle to some wild pigs.

Looks like fun times at the Big Toof Corral!

We used to give painted warbands an extra wyrdstone if they played against an unpainted warband, but that was years ago when campaigns had 10 players routinely...

For a bit folks would paint because they knew we posted photos on line, but there is no shame in these latter days...

Mr L's Last Orders bar (once featured on the Nemesis Crown gallery) finally got some action in this campaign cycle.

Supposedly da Shakys' "best fighter" got caught at the door trying to smuggle a dagger (since da evil Boss Facerippa with hiz 4 or 5 attacks is pictured, I'm not sure who among the Shakys is better, but usually whoever died or failed to appear for a game becomes "best"...an' it wudda gone betta iffin' dat git wuz dere!)

The Dark Grayz smuggled 4 daggers or so...

Da fight fer da stair, second level






Ogres and Troll battle on the ground floor (not sure where all those ogres came from...maybe one is a troll...)




Don't look good fer da Shakys on the top floor...




Maybe holding ground, er stairs.  Still lots of ogres (or trolls)...




The Middle has cleared out a bit...


The Shakiest Shootaz fled the bar.  Popper II wuz rubbed out.

No casualties are reported among the Dark Grayz...

Da Gutrippaz cain't do nuffin' right.  Only Headtaka get a boar off da table. (Nice scaly skinned boar!) Da Pressganga gitz iz mostly rubbed out. Da last Pressganga gain BS so, become da Shoota gitz instead.  An' da Red Toof gobbo get uppity (LGT), so he rubbed out, too.
Gutrippaz lose but get lotza teef, buy stuff.  Yo'and gets da Ride Warboar skill.  Ride da Scaly Skin Boar.

Da Savages win.  Get not so much teef, but do get lotza experience from da stoopid Gutrippaz...

Da Savages only catch one boar, whole game.

Scattered among the BEAUTIFUL scenery & unpainted Fellows there are some really OUTSTANDING LOOKING miniatures. thumbsup

Once you get by being unpainted, most of the Gray Guys are armed & armored in a fashion that would make them unusable as well. I don't use myself as an example other than a bad one, but I worked 12 hour days, six & sometimes seven days a week, tended the kids, & house, AND had a Napoleonic army of approaching seven hundred painted miniatures. No time doesn't cut it as an excuse; lazy or uncaring is the way I see it.

Da Savage Boarz outflank da Gutrippaz.  Three of them boarz iz goin' down... (Note da Mad Bomma iz back!)


Nameless stomp a boar!


Yo'and da Nife fall ta da White Boss (And da Mad Bomma go down, too.)


Da Major an' T'ree Dot take da duppy stone back.


Da Gutrippaz scrap wit both warbands.  Do purty good, but da bastids not bug out.  So da Gutrippaz bug out when Da Nife go down.  Wuz 22 Gutrippaz: but Da Prodda, Da Git (gobbos) an' a squig get rubbed out.
Yo'and Da Nife take da Arm Wound, miss game.
Headtaker saves one duppy stone fer da boyz.

Da Shakyz fight until Boss Facerippa run off wit some gunpowder he find layin' about.  Den da rest o' da Shakyz bug out quick.  Take 3 duppy stonez wit 'em.  Da Smell IV iz kilt ded by Flagon.  Sparky II take Flagon's bolt inna arm, miss game.  Den Da Major lose a head buttin' contest an miss game too.
Da Shakyz gain +3 underdog. Gitz.

Da Savages win!  Dey lose 3 or 4 boyz, a gobbo an' a boar.  One of dem LGT gitz take da Multiple Injury, but get betta. Git 2 duppy stones for dey trouble.

Big Toof II--More Scrappin'

Wow, its been a while.  Gen Con 50 has come and gone...

Everybody but Chris and I went to Gen Con, so we met for a game:
Da Lobba
Da Gutrippaz had da upper hand, an' dey use it ta beat da Savages.  Da Gutrippaz grab da Lobba an' bash some Savages.  A couple of Savages die.  Only da goblin pyrate was OoA for da Gutrippaz, so da git die.  Den da Mad Bomma blowed hisself up!  BOOM!

So da Gutrippaz hire another goblin pyrate and another Bomma.

The next week we gained Jim L back. John managed to break his hand...

Da Ambush!
Da Shaky Shootaz an' da Savages ambush da Gutrippaz!

Dis wuz Boss Facerippaz cunnin' plan:  Ta ambush da rich an' powerful Gutrippa crew in da hopes dat da 20 or so Gutrippaz would over run da ten or eleven Shakyz.  Den da Gutrippaz would drop da treasures and da Shakyz be rich!

Da Gutrippaz spill over da wall.


Still comin' but B'Lay fall inna hole...




Da Savages in pursuit


Oh, an' a blue squig hold up da Pressgang...

Da Cookie and da new pyrate beat up the lone Shaky Big Un...


Bad things happen to the thin green line... Dat big fing iz a ogre body guard wot join da Savages.


Boss Facerippa an' hiz troll fight Nameless an' a squig.


Da Shakyz bug out.  Here da Gutrippaz unleash a hail of arrows and lead for no result...


Da Shakyz bug out.  A couple die. (Dem Shakyz only have 3 models left on da table...)  A boy becomez a hero.  An all da Shaky heroes get better.

Da pesky Savages don't even have anybody out of action...  They catch a couple of treasures from the death of B'Lay...

Da Gutrippaz lose a squig an' da new Mad Bomma kilt ded.  Mr. B'Lay an' Yo'and da Nife

Da Gutrippaz gain 9 treasures an' release sum prizonerz to gain a free orc.  Plottin' revenge.

It was just a Skirmish
Da Gutrippaz vs dem Dark Gray Fings

We (John) rolled a boring skirmish game.

Da Dark Grayz were out warband rated by a 100 or so, but had way more models on the table (and forgot 2). The left flank of the Grayz.


A scattering of Gutrippaz... The event the Dark Priest was rolled on like the first turn, which made it dark, which made the Gutrippaz shooting not so good...

It may seem like da Gutrippaz ain't moving. Thick crowds and darkness does that to a game...

Da Gutrippa center folds, but so does da Grayz left...




Still lots of Grayz wot ain't fought at all.


Da Dark Grayz fail da first rout test! Sorted dat. A bunch o' gobbos croaks, an' da Gray heroes pick up a couple of interesting injuries (I forget which). Da Grayz do discover dat dere's dis Mummy's treasure hidden under Big Toof.

Da Gutrippaz lose da last squig, but a boy called Mr. Boom becomes a hero. Yay 5 heroes!

Big Toof Too--Back ta Three

I been getting behind on da ol' Big Toof diary.  Part of me likes a small number of players, but ol' Jim L gets pounded on pretty regular this way as Chris and I take turns 'winning'.

This week it was Chris' turn:
Another Ambush in da Big Toof
Chris was da high warband.  This time Jim L just rolled the Ambush scenario, so there was no malice aforethought...

Da Whites crowd da center, dey can go anywheres.


Da Whites attack da Shakyz wit dere heroes, 'cause dere only like 10 of dem Shakyz (an dey fall down).




Da Blue Squig no hold up dem Whites (dats a PAINTED ogre bodyguard dere fer da Whites).




A group of White henchmen hold da Gutrippaz (dem an' da nasty invisible crowd)






A loose boar runs by.  Da White Shaman got shot.  Gutrippaz no catch da boar though...


I fergit da Shaky troll's name.  It gets swarmed but don't go down.


Sparky II fights da White ogre...




Da Major tries to hold after da Boss and da Troll go missin'




Da Gutrippaz break inta da square


Da end iz near.  Da White henchmen all fall before da frustrated Gutrippa attack.








Da last White charge.  Headtaker an' Da Ganga become the first casualties fer da Gutrippaz.


Da Cookie Wassis claim da duppy stone dat da Whites drop.


Da Shakiest Shootaz broke when Sparky II an' Boss Facerippa fall inna same turn.

Big Toof II: Four Again, Again

I have no idea what week we are in. Warbands are in the 400s... Well Chris and I take turns breaking 400 before losing models and falling back. Jim L and John are above 300 most of the time...

Another Freakin' Ambush
This week I was 423... And Chris rolled Ambush. Wee!

The Whites hit from the West, threatening da Theef and Da Best Shoota right off the bat (Da Best Shoota iz already toast)


Da Gutrippaz re-organize, like.




The last henchmen all come in together on the flank


Endgame da Gutrippaz (Cookie) haz seen off da White Shaman an' da ogre an' lotz of der minions.


But a random event warband searching for their lost mule (and loot) hit the Gutrippaz in da rear... (Dey looks a lot like da Gutrippaz casualties...)


So: da White Savages run when dere Shaman fall. (Go Cookie!) Dey don't get no extra treasure (but gain +1 Underdog and have money from last week.) Nobody die, everybody recover.

Da Gutrippaz wuz at da break point facing a new mob with da ogre. Da Gutrippaz bug out with three hired swords an' three henchmen out of action. Of da hired help, Bilge Watta da Pyrate iz kilt ded. Da Halberd an' Da Best Shoota dies, too.

Da Oz Skullz Raidaz wins (except dey an event...)

Next DA MUMMY!

Big Toof II--Catch da Snotz

I am taking forever to post reports, so I am shakier on the details of games than even usual. Still the saga of the THREE WARBANDS continues...

(John, the youngest of our group, has been plagued with health problems. He has had to drop out for the duration.)

We ventured into the tavern district of Big Toof to capture some drunken snotz.
Chris' White Savages moved first.




It was dark and the smallest warband (Jim L's) had trouble navigating the dark streets (especially when the invisible crowd stampeded over the warband before it could move...)




Da Gutrippaz got trampled as well




Da snot turns out ta be a gobbo, an' da git stands up to a mounted hero for a LONG time...


Gutrippa shootaz scraps wit da Savage Squig. (Chris painted this Squig Hopper for a Squig race back in the day...)


Dis Savage hero discovers a loose squig...


Da Savages try ta flank da Gutrippaz


Da Gutrippaz an' da Savages miss each other with a lot of attacks.




Da scrap between da gobbo an' da hero go on so long, da squig go wild and start fightin' da hero too.


Meanwhile da Shakyz take it layin' down. It was a mean crowd...


LOTZ of gray Savages outflank da Shakyz...


Da Shaky Troll iz tied up with a mean gobbo too.


Da Savages broke. Mainly dey gives up, cause da boar riderz cain't hits nothin'. I don't remember if anything dies. A couple of nuttaz maybe. The Savages captured 2 snotz.

Da Shayz gave it up when Flagon shot da Shakyz' best shoota. The Shakyz capture a bunch of stuff (cause the Savages an' da Gutrippaz wuz scrappin' all da while.) Like 2 squigz, a snot an' some gobboz. Something probably died. Still da Shakyz will have higher numbers for a couple of games...

Da Gutrippaz capture a squig an' a Red Toof goblin. An' dey winz. Cain't remember if anybody died.

Da quest go on, so more to come one of these dayz.

Dis game happen a couple weeks ago. Not sure who was high warband, but it don't matter dat much. Da Shakyz wuz low like always.

Da top floor action. Improvised weapons are indicated by yellow discs, dice and whatever.






Da middle floor. Cookie hold da stair.






Ground floor--da bar. Nameless da Troll iz stoopid for most of da game. He just git bashed an' spelled an' such till he fall right over. Dere be LOTZ of Savages on da first floor. Dey clean up.




Oh. Nameless gone


Dis wuz a bar fight, so da injury report supposed ta be short. Still dere wuz blood spilt.

Da Gutrippaz run first, 'cause Flagon got clocked wit a bottle, an da whole first floor go ooa (Lucky Todder, an' Ali Bahbla da Gobbo Peddla an' a squig an' 2 gobboz an' Nameless!). Flagon got Hardened, an' da squig an' a gobbo iz rubbed right out. (We kind of ignoe the whole 30 model limit for the scenario an' da no animalz clause, too...) Rolling Eyes

Da Gutrippaz find some prizners an' one of 'em turns out ta be a halberd boy like Todder. So dat git joins up.

Da Shakyz runz too, 'cause dey all alone inna bar wit like 30 Savages, wit 2 heroes ooa an' Boss Facerippa surrounded. One of dem hero take da Chest Wound.

Did any Savage go ooa? I doubt it. Most of da gitz wuz on da ground floor, an' dey just roll right over gitz. Anywayz none of 'em die.

To tell da truth, I have kinda lost track of win/loss records. Chris an' I have won a bunch of games. John was like 50/50 before illness took him out of the campaign an' Jim L has lost LOTZ of games (but not EVERY game)

A gajillion gobboz haz croaked. Nameless kilt 3 inna first fight, an' ain't fit wit a gobbo since. (Stoopid White Shaman usually knocks old Nameless ooa.)

Each of the surviving warbands has lost 3 heroes kilt ded.

All of us are down to just the boarz wez ridin' 'cause all da extry boarz been kilt.

Dis last bar fight wuz da last straw for my 'let random rolls determine da story' approach to campaigns. So da next fight iz going to be da beginning of Quest Scenarios to get dis whole quest story going to a conclusion.

Savages in the bar must mean it is a Sports Bar. The Bar is a FANTASTIC LOOKING battleground...in case I never mentioned it before. Except for some gray blotches in the photos, it was a BEAUTIFUL game. WONDERFUL STUFF! thumbsup

This week we played a version of Dems my Gubbinz. Da story iz dat three trollz haz invaded dis gobbo village a wayz from Big Toof. Dis here gobbo village wuz famous fer artifactz of Gork an' or Mork. An' da rumor iz dat da Horn of Ugrok iz dere in da Troll hoard...

Dems my Gubbinz! iz one of dem scenarioz wot got a turn limit. 6 turn. At da end of 6 turn Cookie haz da Sacred Gubbin an' da WIN! Nobody routed, lotz gitz ded.

Da Savages loze da pesky T5 Ogre, dat gray nutta git an da spida ate a gobbo. Dem Savage capture one gubbin an' kill one troll.

Da Shakyz loze some mean gobboz, a squig an' dat crossbow git. (Da Gobbo Theef loot dere bodies!)
Da Shakyz capture 3 gubbinz an' kill 2 trollz. Fungus Breath II git better.

Da Gutrippa only git one gubbin, but it da RIGHT gubbin, so dere! Da Lucky Todder rub out da Gutrippaz last Red Toof, da Savages kilt Sharp Eye an' da Spary II kilt old Dred Pyrate...

Da Gutrippa roll Return a Favor in Exploration. Find a nice unemployed ogre.

Da Quest move on to Da Hag'z Tower dis last Thurs... Might get ta reporting it before next week...
