Inquisitor Lenk in the Mancunius Dome underhive

I've always been a fan of John Blanche's work, be it illustration or miniature it's always amazingly atmospheric and emotive. I tried to capture a little of his style in my Necromunda gang last year but they never quite reached the look I wanted.

So I'm trying again with a little warband that may never see a tabletop battle but I just feel like making them anyway...

Looking good. I especially like the servo-skull. Using this particular undead-model for it was a great idea!

I LOVE that inquisitor model! It wouldn't take much at all to get him to look like a Warrior Priest. Can't wait to see how he looks painted.

That works really well! Very good! I like the green glass best, but all of it is well painted! Any progress on the rest?

After a very long break from this project the new Codex: Inquisitor has renewed my interest in it. It's still not very likely to be used in a full game of WH40K but it may get a chance to see the tabletop in Kill Team games.

Cool Projects never really die...or get completed; they just lurk in the shadow until the time & spirit are right. The new pieces have Blanche potential. Have FUN with the painting et al!  

A marathon (for me!) painting session last night means Inquisitor Lenk is finished:

The Inquisitor & his Ghostly friend turned out VERY COOL in a Blachesque sort of way. GREAT WORK!

Based on the inspirational model by Jakob Rune Nielsen, this is my version of his Servo Skull Collector:

This model is very "full", but I'm sure when it's painted up it will be easier to see all the details. What happened to the first Lenk-model, the one that's based on Coteaz?

EXCELLENT conversion! The Collector has all the eerie, sinister feel that is the main allure of 40K for moi...of course, the Orks are still the coolest pieces.

I went off the idea of using a "standard" model for this warband, so he hadn't had anything done beyond a black spray undercoat

I like a full/busy model, but not cluttered ones - I hope I have the balance right!

Next finished model:

Gumpert Tabfoot - Ratling

The Ratling...using Skaven legs makes for a very inside pun...fits perfectly with his taller & more sinister comrades. GREAT brushwork made a cool mini even cooler. VERY WELL DONE as usual!

Tarkloth, the Servo-Skull Collector

VERY COOL! The Collector adds to the eerie Balnchesque feel of the Band  WONDERFULLY. GREAT WORK!    

Great warband, very fitting paintjob.
Because lots of the details that are on the collector are in the same brown, it doesn't look full at all anymore. And all the skulls are easily visible.
I don't know the word eerie but looking at your warband I'm pretty sure I know what it means without looking it up

Ah, the WoC-Sorcerer. Due to the scrolls you placed on his right shoulder/breast he really looks like he is thrusting his staff forward and shouting something. Really well done! Where was the head from, Flagellants?
