If 3 models charge an enemy, do they all attack simultaneously? Or in initiative order? If equal initiative do they roll off? This comes into play because if they strike in order, the first could knock down the enemy and make it easier for the other 2 to finish them off.

Also, in subsequent rounds (non charger rounds) does initiative order mean that your models who are later in the round can attack vs a knocked down/stunned enemy (if your model with higher initiative knocked them down/stunned them)? In that case, having a variety of initiative values is actually quite useful.

Several strike first warrior's order of attack is decided by the initiative. If there is equal they roll off.
(house-rule: if several warrior with the same initiative charge the same model from one warband heroes goes first and then the henchmen. Saving time from rolling it.)

I almost prefer all chargers striking simultaneously. Allowing 3 separate attacks means that a charged model has a VERY high chance of being taken out of action. Helmets are far less useful also. It means that a large horde beats all?

OFFICIAL Mordheim ERRATA: Page 34, Who Strikes First; Replace the paragraph with the following:

“Normally, models fight in order of descending Initiative with the highest striking first. If their Initiatives are equal, roll a dice to see who fights first. If a model stood up in the Recovery phase of that turn, then he will strike last irrespective of any other circumstances.
Sometimes a model will be allowed to ‘strike first’ for some reason. Most commonly this is because they charged in that turn, but some equipment, skills and spells produce the same effect. If only one model ‘strikes first’ then it does so and the
remainder of the combatants strike in Initiative order as described above. If there are several models who are each entitled to ‘strike first’, then they determine the order of combat between themselves by Initiative, as described above. Once all those that were eligible to ‘strike first’ have fought, any other combatants fight in Initiative order.”

IDK if it's in the last rulebook somewhere or if it's a house rule, but I have been playing for years applying this rule not clarified in the text above:

If you charge with 3 warriors a single enemy, and the first two leave him on the ground, you won't be able to finish him with the third, because all that attacks who strike first happen at the same time even if the order is decided by I. You'd have to roll to impact and wound as usual, and get the better result in the injury table during the charge sub-phase. If one of your warriors is fighting with him already when the charges happen, he will be able to finish the enemy as usual when his turn comes.

If it's not in the official rulebook, then you should use it as a houserule, it helps to balance warbands with high movement and/or big numbers quite a lot.

Yeah, I don't think that's in the rule book. And giving numbers a lot of power is probably more realistic. I think the houserule might make games more fun though.

I do not know if it change anything but keep it mind before you attack/charge you have to specify your target model. Charges can be intercepted and attacks can gone wasted if target model go out of action earlier by a quickier friendly warrior's attack....

That would be the opposite of the official rules. Not a house rule I would be interested in, but I don't game in your group. Very Happy

It really helps to keep balance and diminish the huge advantage big packs have against low number bands. Since we had two skaven players in our group that kind of things were necessary to bring them back to earth when they learned how to exploit the huge advantages that band has in the vanilla game.

I live in a bigger city now, and my current group plays using the official rule as usual (wasn't sure if it was the way they played or the actual official rule) . But I rather prefer the way I used to play with my former group, because big compact groups of warriors have enough advantages in Mordheim already.
