A01 2011-10-30 Semi-Rural

This board went through multiple iterations:

1) Straight 2' x 2' x 1" board for "wargaming" with single color woodland scenics flock (partially visible in my prior post's older link https://boringmordheimforum.forumieren.com/t5900-villa-october-30-2011)

2) Then I cut out four 8" x 8" modular sections to host buildings...after I figured out that was the system I would commit to

I added a stone road and cart tracks down the center, then re-flocked with GW

3) added more stone road, etc. on perimeter, which is what you see here

B02 2011-09-30 Hovel

An odd shaped building module designed to "nest" with the previous watch tower

Not sure I had conceptualized 8" x 8" modular board yet

Beginning of my system of having removable levels

You'll also notice that I go back (sometimes many months later) to add finishing details, e.g. functional ladders)

My goal at the time was to crank out playable, finished terrain, even if certain (time consuming) details were missing

A02 2011-08-07 Dock

So this was my first "real" modular board

The buildings are removable, but not modular and usable on other boards

You can see that it had a complete re-paint if you check out the original post

In retrospect, I would have made this board very differently...oh well!

A04 2011-12-29 City Block Board 1

My first truly modular board, ready for modular buildings

Mistake: total board height is only 2" with ~ 1.75" playable crypt

Means can't necessarily leave figures under buildings

In retrospect would have made this a 3" high board with ~ 2.75" playable crypt/dungeon...

So I moved on to a 2' x 1' board

Also my first board with preferred height of 3" and underground playable height of ~2.75"

Made a removable center road/arch section so that I would have two 8" x 8" sections for building modules, but could also have a larger module of 8" x 20"

How to connect my first 2" high city board with my taller 3" city board"?

Also, the second section descended to dungeon level...

You'll see in some of my prior posts that the first of the two sections had a grassy canal that I changed to tiled to host my market stalls

A12 2013-05-04 Transition 1 Half

So I now had a large gap between the city boards and the new dungeon modules

To be exact, 6" x 4' from the half board down to the dock

The next 3 boards were viewed as "temporary" to fill 2.5' of the gap

First one to line up with the 2" section of the first city board, this why the vertical brick work only goes down 1"..and only on 1 side
