Thanks guys. I'm striving for a wasteland tundra look, the weight of autumn and the dimishing light. A very Finnish thing I guess but since some of us are Finnish it kinda of fits in.

The board is made from Finnfoam, an isolation material. It was wrapped in some kind of aluminium sheet so when I ripped it of it formed these nice "flakes" in the board. Then it was painted dark grey using standard Bauhaus colours. After the paint had dried I used a Bunsen burner on it to form those bubbles. It was the highlighted roughly with lighter Bauhaus paint and then more detailed with gw paints. Afterwards I painted it with the lightest shade of Armypainter Quickshade. While the paint was wet I sprinkled birch seeds, static grass and sands on top of the board.

This is the result.

LOOKIN' GOOD! I get a similar nice rough texture with the insulation foam I use also. It has a vinyl like peel off cover. Considering the Winters you get, the tougher aluminum sound like a winner.   What a Face

PostSubject: Re: Outgard   Tue 6 Dec 2016 - 7:07

Last Saturday we met in Helsinki and played a couple of games. This is part one.

The buildings of Toivoton are, for a few blessed moments, bathed in light. A false dawn approaches and the dwellers in the dark disappear.

In death there is life and in memory there is revelation. They gather confused to celebrate dagmál, to strengthen themself before the gods, to have the will to walk on. They cannot know what  awaits .

Iku-Turso, the breaker, stands guard over his fallen lord. The light will soon turn red. The eye of the world is searching for prey.

Silently the sky hill descends upon Toivoton. The villagers hide in fear but the draugr do not remember enough to fear the wytch of the morning sky.

Madness from the time of the gods, fear the knowledge of the past

The howling of the dogs of Ragnar gives the oathbound the drive to flee. Hirdmen stay to wet their blades .

Kratti Skulle Man tears into Ragnar Hċrfagre, rusted blade and draugr's hate meet zealous madness in a bitter clash as the sky hill warps reality.

Borkka Birgersson clashes with the primitive Iku-Turso, both behemots are bloodied but in the end the savage fury triumphs

Wytches, the ancient doom of man. Wild laughter is heard as the searchlights focus on the mad melee beneath the temple.

The bloodfeast of the hird buys time for the servitors to flee with their precious cargo, Tuonela awaits.

Nearly overwhelmed the wytch jaegers realize just how badly they prepared for their prey.

Reality is bent and the wytch of the sky plucks Kratti from his foe. His dead eyes do not register the change. smashing into the primeval horror.

The gate is left open and through it more warriors are dragged up into the heavens. As the funeral process continues the berserk warriors tear at the wytch.

My apologies for being lazy. I'll post the second part soon and also the game Nordic and Wilhelminiatures played.

Thank you all for your feedback and interest. I know this isn't really really Mordheim but it's as close to real proper Mordheim as I get these days.

The march towards Tuonela, the third gate is close

In sorrow and in shame. Fealty bound they still serve

The Judgement. The crow eaters. The Hunters. Pitiful men who cling to dead ideals

King's men, the tyrannical attempt at order. They move in on the small hamlet to add it to their Kingdom.

The Hound of Rotwang challenge King Raavenkae. He is no match for the mystic technolord.

The land heaves as the ancient machine gods awaken.

Blow, winds, and crack the earth! rage! blow! You cataracts and hurricanoes, spout till you have drenched our steppes, killed the crows!

Stavkirke surges forward in blood lust. It's ancient traumatized machine spirit reliving the Old Conquest.

Reality is torn apart and daemons from the aether tears through the veil

Slave warrior and mutant mystic, locked in hatred and in melee.

The blood fever rises and draws in even the moribund and draugr

Rotwang has fallen. The King's domain expands and his rage and paranoia grows. Death and destruction to all who dares oppose!

Rumble thy bellyful! Spit, fire! spout, rain!
Nor rain, wind, thunder, fire, are my daughters

Wytches dance and the dead sing. The ground shudders and machines long dormant scream!

Iki-Turso faces his foe, blind to the fact that the necro-arkke is now unprotected.

Peikko joins in, ashen skinned but full of burning fury.

The challenge is laid down, the gauntlet tossed. King Raavenkae, unbound by taboo, will not let his enemy rest easily

Into death, into glory, never back down, to spit in the eye of god!

Under the gate, sacrosanct madness erupts. Unarmed pilgrims trows themselves at the iron of their hated foe.

Pyres smoulder, the wytches burn. What remains of holy mankind is left to drown the world in blood. No future, no future for you

War machine, godhead, impotent lord, in blindess it strikes out. It has no mouth but it must scream!

No wytch remain, only death and daemons howling

Stolen away on wings of magick Peikko finds himself in a strange place. He lives but for a few moments .

He meets his demise at the hands of something even more misshaped and pitiful than himself. His daughter is the last he thinks of

Lowyatar strives to see beyond her blindness. In the realms of spirits she lifts up a warrior who should rest.

Again Kratti rises from death, his mangled axe still thirst.

This is the end. Smashed, cleaved and torn the arkke breaks. Chief Ruma's spirit at last enters Hel. His final whisper, the name of his Mistress. Regan Jah-Bhaal Taxil.

Across oceans of time, among distant stars she hears him. And she mourns her dead brother.

Broken Kratti fights, his mind is long gone and death is his whole universe

Lowyatar screams in vain. Rogue wytchtek crushes through the King's Guard, breaking some but ultimately bowing down to Raavenkae . Will this be the beginning of a new Conquest?

Thank you very much gents 😀 battle reports are hard for me to write. I like a more visual presentation that leaves it open for different interpretations..

Some models arrived too late to take part in the game but they are so beautiful I had to post them.

Aye, more of a dark future feel to them. It contrasts well with the more medieval bands we fielded.
