PostSubject: Chief Tugboat's Warbands   Fri 25 Mar 2016 - 7:46

Hello fine people, I've been lurking here for quite some time and decided to finally contribute to this wonderfull community. At this moment I have five warbands in various stages of completion, Dwarfs, The Possessed, Reikland, Witch Hunters and Skaven. I also have an undead warband in the works (just the vampire for now)! As you can tell I have an addiction to that new warband smell. Now I present "Hydro's Expedition"

The noble Hydro Ironfist

The engineer Locktie Grimey

Trollslayer Dwalingrim

Trollslayer Balisk

The Clansmen (different henchmen groups)

Thunderers

Last but not least, the courageous Beardlings!!

So there you have it. Obviously some aren't quite finished yet and my greenstuff skills are improving. The beards on the slayers were really frustrating and time consuming and I'm still not satisfied with how they came out. Dwalingrims curly mustache fell off right before his photo shoot, so thats why it looks extra funky. Later today I'll post up my Possessed warband!

Cheers!

Thanks VK!

I now present my in-progress Possessed! I do not have names for these chaotic confused weirdos yet but I'm sure that will come in due time.

The Magister!

Possessed 1

Possessed 2

Mutant 1

Mutant 2

Beastmen

Brethren

Group shot

I had a lot of fun building these freaks. Are they nurgle? Tzeentch? Who knows! Chaos works in mysterious ways I guess. In hindsight, I maybe should have stuck with one chaos god, but I saw that tzeentch fellow in the shop and had to have it. Some greenstuff tenticles, a weird tyranid bit that looked like a claw and WHAM chaos. Looking forward to painting him soon.

Couldn't pass on using the Putrid blightking for possessed 1. Even though they can't wear armor, I really liked the giant strange claw stabby thing that he calls a right arm. Mutant 1 started his journey as a chaos marauder. Aaaaaaannnd I basically just smashed greenstuff on him, gave him a disgusting pot belly that burst. Made lots of boils and growths, saw a tyranid warrior claw and slapped it on. Came out well but I think I should have done something to his legs.

Mr. Magister also got the pot belly treatment with some tenticles. I really love the Putrid Blightking box (even though its pricey) you get so many awesome bits. And there you have it, I still need more members but I thought it was a pretty good start. Hope you enjoy and up next will probably be witch hunters? Idk

Cheers!

Alright, time to get my Witch Hunters on this lovely site. These Witch Burning lads are kinda boring, there is nothing really special about them and life is cheap. But alas hope yall enjoy The Dead Rabbits!

Amsterdam the Captain

"Priest" Vallon

"Happy Jack" Mulrany

Jimmy Spoils and McGloin

And the rest of the Unnamed Bums

Group shot

And an Ogre bodyguard converted from a 40k Ogryn. Still painting him but thought it was worth a shot while the camera is out!

And thats them! Pretty run of the mill warband. The blunderbuss guy obviously doesn't have one yet but I really wanted to model that miniature so yea, someone will be that guy eventually! Hope you guys like em!

That's a nice bashing of the empire plastic kits painted up well. Where are these things from:
- the ogre's head
- the left torch-guy's head
- the "dog"?

Are you going to base them properly?

Thanks Grim!

1.Ogres head is just one of the heads that came in the Ogryn box. I just greenstuffed a helmet on it Smile

2. I believe the torch guys head came with the Empire Militia box. Which is sadly OOP now, I believe.

3. Dog is from reaper bones. Its called "hell hound" from that line ( it had spikes all over its back that I clipped off) with greenstuff fur. He still looks "chaos-y" but meh it was like $2.50 at the FLGS. He needs his final coats of paint.

And yes, they will be based. (which is the only reason why this is in the WIP thread and not finished models) . I simply despise doing it, but alas, no model is complete without it. They will get just grit and brown/tan paint shortly!

Nice witch hunters! Inspiring me to finish my own ones. I particularly like the blunderbuss guy (who doesn't love a blunderbuss) and the captain who looks very much in charge. His leather coat looks really great

Here is a color scheme test for my Marienburg warband. I'm pretty happy with this young blood.

Thoughts?

Here's a little sneak peak of another warband I'm working on! The goblin warband leader!

And also a dwarf slayer hired sword!

Still need to finish up the highlights on him but yea he's almost done.

Medium blue & yellow is a favorite color combination for moi; SO the Marienburger looks TERRIFIC from my perspective, AND, as a Goblin Guy, the Little Green Head Honcho is UBERCOOL. The Slayer looks suitably & colorfully nuts...NICE orange Mohawk. GREAT WORK all around!   thumbsup

My Marienburg warband is coming along nicely, but finally my Mordheim Halfling Scout came in from Ebay!! He did cost a pretty penny but was totally worth it, as I love the model.

I'll post up some pictures of my Marienburg warband tomorrow!

Thanks guys, and nope Deaf he came bare metal! Although I'm overall happy with him, upon second glance, I'm not digging the basing. The grit is to course on the front of the base. I think I'll redo it today. Once the sun comes out I'll snap some shots of the Marienburgers!

I also painted an elf ranger so I'll post him up as well!

I'm interested in making a Pit Fighter too, do you think that the chaos marauders make a good base model? I have a bunch still so maybe if I greenstuff a gladiator type helmet it will look good.

Alright here is my Marienburg warband! Still a work in progress but some of them are more or less done (excluding basing)

The Captain

Champion

Champion

Youngblood

Handgunners

Warriors

So I'm still building a couple more models to finish the warband off, but that's basically them! I missed some pretty big mold lines on a few of them that I'm going to have to scrape off and touch up some paint. And I'm actually using handguns! I know crossbows are better but I thought the blackpowder fit in thematically, cause ya know, they rich! Overall I'm happy with how they are progressing, and I love the paint scheme more than I thought I would!

Also an elf ranger

Cheers
