| Every now and then I give the lads a break from exotic locales. The next few weeks are one of those times. Various gangs have traveled to the site of the City of the Damned: Bob--Dwarf Treasure Hunters Chad--Nemesis Crown Black Orcs Chris--Skaven Jim L--Pit Fighters Jim S--The Cult of the Possessed Wyrdstone HuntPit Fighters versus the Cult - Jim L wrote:
- The Arm Pit Gang.
Rating 74 with 4 heroes and 2 henchmen. The Unspeakable Cult Rating 73 with 5 heroes and 2 Beastmen The battlefield. One Pursuer may have died, The Arm Pits discover Prisoners in exploration. They gain 10 gc and a free Pursuer. A Pit Fighter hero suffers Horrible Scars. The Cult gain 2 Wyrdstone, find a Straggler and basically clean up. A third beastman is hired and two Lucky Charms are purchased. _____________________________________________________ OccupyDa Brusmashas versus the Ratz The Ratz encounter the mad Matriarch, kill her and steal her stuff. Then they fail a rout test. [There are no rout tests in Occupy, but don't tell my ladz that...] The winning Orcs disband after both their casualties die. (One Black Orc Big Un and a Boy). ____________________________________________________________ A SkirmishThe Ratz versus The Arm Pits The Ratz. The Ratz were butchered. A Night Runner dies. One Black Skaven hero suffers a Miss One Game result, the other suffers an Old Battle Wound. The Arm Pits hire an ogre. More battles to come...

| The lack of proper scenery for Cathay will keep us from the Far East forever, I fear. The next great adventure will be The Bride of Toth Amon. ______________________________________________________________________________ Monster HuntThe Greedy Gimps, Da Brusmashas and the Unspeakable Cult clash around a Monster Awkward angles... Dwarf snipers. Troll Slayers Da orcs. The Monster. The Madmen! Flagellants pursue the Cult. The Orcs and Dwarfs bash each other. The Greedy Gimps fled when both Troll Slayers were OoA. Da Brusmashas failed a rout test soon after. A Black Orc Big Un suffers a Chest Wound... The Cult fought flagellants and the Young Wyvern. (Represented by a Cockatrice as the wyvern suffered an accident in transport...) Hansel Hemlich the Possessed kills the poor wyvern in one bloody round of combat. Much experience and stuff is accrued. The Beastman known as Arrrgh! is killed by a flagellant. Arrrgh!! is hired to replace him.

- AND the dumb question of the day: where did the flagellants come from?
They showed up via the Random Happenings Chart, result #62 The Lost. ______________________________________________________________________________ Another SkirmishThe Ratz! versus the Unspeakable Cult Chris rolled for his Old Battle Wound and got a 1. Both Black Skaven and their Weeping Blades and Fighting Claws missed the fight... Skaven give ground and sling. The Ratz fled with lots of verminkin OoA (including a LGT hero) and their sorcerer controlled by the Lure of Chaos... The Cult lose Arrrgh!!. Arrrgh!!! is hired. **************************************************************************** The Wizard's MansionThe Arm Pits versus the Greedy Gimps and Da Brusmashas. With the addition of an ogre, Arm Pits are the highest rated warband in the fight. With much grumbling and complaining they occupy the tower/mansion. The Orcs were on the west. The Geedy Gimps were on the east side of the tower/mansion. The Ogre proves decisive. The Dwarfs are destroyed before the Orcs can get there. The Dwarfs lose a Troll Slayer KIA. The Orcs lose a hero and suffer multiple injuries on the previously weakened Big Un. He is now T2... The Ogre broke a nail. In total 4 heroes were killed in the first weeks fighting. [The Arm Pits killed 3...] One skaven Night Runner was retired as well in favor of another verminkin LGT. Next week we expect to be joined by a few more of the younger generation as folks return from holiday trips and such.

| See indecision is rampant. The Second Meeting (Cont'd)A Chance EncounterDa Mob versus Cathayan Mercenaries... This battle was interesting because of a gamble Andrew took with his warband list. The mercenaries started with 3 heroes (Captain and youngbloods) and a bunch of expensive henchmen (swordsmen and 3 marksmen with blunderbusses). A 60 warband rating. The idea was since the warband was starting 3 games behind, everyone who survived would gain an advance from Underdog Bonus except the Captain. Andrew drew Kevin's beginning warband, but Da Mob begins with a slightly higher than average warband rating, in this case exactly 111. The gamble paid off when the blunderbusses took 4 orcs out of action. Da Mob routs. ____________________________________________________________________________ Surprise AttacksDa Brusmashas attacked The Ratz! on one table while Da Mob ambushed The Arm Pits on another Da Brusmashas ran afoul of the Warp Lightning throwing Sorcerer. Da Brusmashas fled. Meanwhile the horde of orcs flowed right over the surprised Arm Pits. The Arm Pits fled as soon as possible. ____________________________________________________________________________ A Wyrdstone HuntThe Cathayan Mercs encounter the Unspeakable Cult The two warbands vied for 2 wyrdstone shards on a windy day. The wind did not affect the blunderbusses, but the black powder weapons ended up not impacting the battle much. The Cult was able to close with the men, which meant that the Cathayans fled soon after. A Cathayan marksman dies. The Cult lose Blarg the Beast, however a Dark Soul named Joseph Gibbers became a hero. Magister Dolf Shicklegrubber falls down a well, is poisoned and misses a game...

| Thanks Al! Second Meeting (Cont'd)BreakthroughThe Cathayans versus The Ratz! I hear that the wind followed the Cathayans, but it was not a fair wind. The Ratz bowl the mercenaries over. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Hidden TreasureDa Mob versus The Unspeakable Cult The search for the treasure degenerated early into a general brawl. The orcs started it by fighting among themselves. The Cult joined in just to be not left out. The orcs tired of the beating and fled. Four orcs and a squig are killed. Kevin rolls three 1s and two 2s for recovery... The treasure consisted of 10 gold crowns and a sword. A Hired Sword returns a favor to the Cult though... The highlight of the game was the debut of Kevin's self sculpted squigs. Pretty cool. ____________________________________________________________________________ A SkirmishDa Brusmashas clash with the Arm Pits again. Top view of the battle: The orcs took the worst of it. A poor young un with the unlikely handle of Balrit Dubloc ended up in a Pit Fight. The poor lad was knocked down early, but managed to regain his feet and defeat his opponent! Standings after two weeks: The Unspeakable Cult--5 Wins/1 Loss The Arm Pits--------------3 Wins/3 Losses The Ratz!------------------3 Wins/3 Losses Da Brusmashas-----------1 Win/4 Losses Da Mob---------------------1 Win/2 Losses The Cathayans-----------1 Win/ 2 Losses The Greedy Gimps----------------2 Losses

| Third Times a CharmOur third convocation. Players and Warbands Andrew--Reiklander Mercenaries that look Cathayan Bob--Treasure Hunters Chad--Nemesis Crown Black Orcs Chris--Skaven Jim L--Pit Fighters Jim S--The Cult of the Possessed Kevin--Da Mob Twelve feet of Mordheim scenery awaits mayhem. Surprise! Surprise!Da Brusmashas are not Ratz! smashas The orcs are smashed. The Ratz! hire a rat ogre. Some orcs may have died or been injured horribly. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ A Skirmish in the RainDa Mob attacks the Reikland/Cathayans Heavy rain makes the Cathayans' black powder arsenal useless. But Da Mobs' toughness and numbers are for naught. (Leading the attack with goblins and squigs seals the deal.) Lots of orcs begin far from the Cathays. A few damp Cathayans huddle in the rain as goblins and squigs advance upon them. The orcs advance! But most of the goblins and squigs are OoA. Da Mob bounces off the Teflon Cahtayans. - Kevin wrote:
- Three goblins and a ork died, my hero Big Redd took a leg wound.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ A Wyrdstone HuntThe Arm Pits encounter Unspeakable Cult The Pits advance! The Cult lies in wait. The Pits reel away from the attack. The Arm Pits collect one wyrdstone and flee with two pursuers and a hero OoA. The Hero hates the Possessed warband. Hater. The Cult collects three wyrdstone. They hire another brethren archer and find a lance... More reports to follow...
| Thanks Al. Its always a treat to see the tables laid out like that in a photo. ______________________________________________________________________________ Week Three (Cont'd)Cathayans fight da BrusmashasThis fight was bloody. A Cathayan loses an eye. An orc hero loses an eye and an arm! Other various and sundry supporting minions are killed as well. Come to think of it, its possible da Brusmashas outlasted (out bled?) the Cathayans... - Andrew wrote:
- We both took some fairly heavy casualties in the battle. We were both broken and considering leaving but just couldn't bear to let victory slip away. I believe Chad came away slightly worse from the injury rolls, though I did lose another blunderbuss, leaving me with just one left.
I seem to be losing a single marksmen per battle fairly consistently.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Another Surprise...AttackThe Ratz! ambush the Unspeakable Cult The Druchi hireling shouted the alarm and sprang down from his watch post. The elf had only taken a few steps when he was engulfed by oily green flame. Smoldering cinders floated off on the chill breeze. The sound of chittering and countless claws on stone filled the air.Reinforcements! The Possessed monsters cut a swath through the Skaven attack, taking down the rat ogre, verminkin and a Black Skaven. The Ratz! fled before their wrath. The Dark Elf Assassin is killed in his second fight. The corpse of the Skaven's newly hired rat ogre is burned at his feet (so to speak). A Black Skaven is Hardened. Curses! Hansel Hemlick gains +1 Ld. Horst Wissil gains +1 I or vice versa, either way both Possessed roll 8s for advancement. Herman Boering is ignored by the Shadowlord.

| Week Three (Cont'd)A Chance EncounterThe Ratz! stumble into the Cathayans Even after the Ratz! lost 25 in warband rating, they out-number The Nine. - Andrew wrote:
- Onigumo, my frenzied LGT swordsman and one of the few characters I've deemed worthy of a name other than Abler and Krane, received an attack advance over the night, while also becoming hardened and losing an eye.
Hiten, a marksmen LGT, joined as my fifth hero, my last blunderbuss marksman from the original warband creation. BS 5, 2 Attacks, 2 Wounds, Blunderbuss, Sword, Handgun. The Ratz! gave up their siege with three heroes OoA, which I believe gave the Cathayans +3 wyrdstone. Onigumo was shot down which gave one back. The Fighting Claw Black Skaven is Hardened. Another hero will miss a game, not sure which, its hard to tell with Ratz!. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Let Us Gather At The PoolA massive (for week 3 of a campaign) battle involving Da Mob, The Pits and The Greedy Gimps The Pool is ridiculously tiny, I expect shenanigans occurred. Obviously the Pits arrive first. The Pits defend their pool to the last Pursuer. Dwarfs on the flank! Note how the enemies are being kept at bay, The Troll Slayer has two shiny green tokens! The Arm Pits fled with two wyrdstone. A Witch Elf style Pursuer dies. No one becomes a hero. The Ogre gains +1 Ld. The Greedy Gimps fought on for a turn or so and fled as well. They gained no wyrdstone from the pool, but cleaned up in Underdog Bonus. The Gimps have six heroes! (In three games, not to rub it in or anything.) Da Mob claims all of the remaining wyrdstone. Waaagh!

| Thanks Al. ______________________________________________________________________________ At the Month of MadnessPlayers and Warbands Bob--Treasure Hunters Chad--Nemesis Crown Black Orcs Chris--Skaven Jim L--Pit Fighters Jim S--The Cult of the Possessed Kevin--Da Mob OccupyThis was a popular scenario this week. The Ratz! versus The Greedy Gimps in a short brutal game and Da Mob against the Armed Pits in a full length extravaganza. Da Mob (rating 210) advances! The Arm Pits! (Rating 178.5) A lone hero challenges Da Mob. The Ogre Obediah bashes an orc. The Orcs hold this building, but the pursuer will contest it by climbing. Da Mob succeeds in charging a Pursuer! (Its hard to charge one of those skippy, hoppy jerks. Like elfs with fish heads, I say.) A lone Pit hero by a statue, surrounded by orcs. The Arm Pits won by occupying buildings! Witch elf style Pursuer Kamish died. Some orcs must have died because their warband rating dropped by 19... `````` Greedy Gimps by a fountain before it all went horribly wrong. I think those are verminkin in the lower right, making it horribly wrong, of course. A chaos spawn appeared in the flank and the demoralized dwarfs took to their heels and fled. It is possible a Troll Slayer suffered a miss game result. The Ratz! clean up. (More to come...)

| Ain't they sweet? In a toothy, murderous sort of way... ______________________________________________________________________________ At the Month of Madness (Cont'd)A Chance Encounter with Da Brusmashas The weather was Black Hail, closely followed by a Storm of Chaos... The Unspeakable Cult danced in the streets. A fierce battle in the center... results in: Fewer orcs. After a counter charge by Jack Pumpkinhead and Magister Dolf. Da Brusmashas fled with two heroes OoA (along with a bunch of boyz.) Oddly no one died. The Totally Gimped Young Un was Hardened. The Unspeakable Cult won a shooting duel with only bows and no shooting skills against the Black Orcs' bows, shooting skills and higher BS. (Sometimes BS isn't enough...) If the Black Orc Boss didn't have a crossbow before, he does now. Another Dark Elf Assassin returns a favor! Herman Boering suffers -1 Leadership from visiting the Shadowlord. Herman may give up... Dolf Schickelgrubber learns Wings of Darkness. He can fly! Gonna fly now, Dolf is high now... Jack Pumpkinhead gains +1 St. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The Occupy Mordheim Movement gathers FollowersThe Greedy Gimps versus Da Brusmashas I'm not sure any occupying was attempted. The Gimps and Brus go for each other in the center. The Grumpy Gimps eventually give it up, as too many fall before axe and dagger. Dwarf Hired Swords are seen gathering at a poster offering great opportunities for wealth and advancement. Nothing is said of victory or glory...

There are some things it is best not to know... The model in question will be known as DE II. ______________________________________________________________________________ At the Month of Madness (Cont'd)Another Hidden Treasure HuntDa Mob loses another treasure chest to the Cult--A Tale of Greed and Murder Somewhere in the neighborhood of Three Fountains a hoard of gold did disappear. The story grows with the telling, but Three Fountains used to be quite the place, ye see? Nobs and Ladies and such did abide there. If there be treasure anywhere, why not there?The Cult advances. Orcs in the Two Towers. That yellow and black fella be Skool Buz, he got a crossbow, he do. Herman Boering investigates the south ruins along with his bodyguard, the Pict. As a twisting of the air event slows things down a bit, the Monsters charge! Da Mob flee with LOTS of greenies OoA. Skool Buz dies (shot down in a duel with DE II) along with some goblins, maybe a squig and another orc Boy. (Kevin is not having the luck with recovery rolls...) Dolf Schicklegrubber was stabbed by a raging goblin. The Magister is Hardened by the ordeal. (He was already Hardened...) The fabulous treasure turns out to be 10 gc. (I don't think I have failed every roll on the chart before...) But a jeweled sword and dagger are recovered from a wrecked cart nearby. ____________________________________________________________________________ Sorrow and LamentationOr the Armed Pits meetz The Ratz! I'm not sure of the whys, although, ultimately, it did not signify. It was raining, see. Them Ratz! had some of them fancy newfangled gonnes, but it wasn't gonna do 'em no good, see. It was gonna come down to blood and steel.
And poison. Them Ratz! had some poison...The Pits going to their doom like men. (Or dwarfs or ogres...) Ye cans call 'em Ratz or Doom, same difference to Pits. The Doom of Obediah. - Quote :
- Ogre Obediah died
Witch elf style Pursuer Kintar II died
The warband rating dropped to 166. 9 members. STILL only 4 heroes! ___________________________________________________________________________________ Standings after four weeks:The Unspeakable Cult--10 Wins/1 Loss The Ratz!-------------------6 Wins/5 Losses The Arm Pits---------------4 Wins/6 Losses Da Brusmashas-----------3 Wins/6 Losses The Cathayans------------3 Wins/ 3 Losses Da Mob----------------------2 Wins/6 Losses The Greedy Gimps------------------5 Losses
