The Twentieth Week--The Tale of the Mummy's TombAn Ending
The Emir had heard the rumors for months: A Prince would return out of the desert to save Araby from its enemies. A King would come to punish the ungodly/the foreigner/the non-humans. The dead stalked among us (this the Emir believed). The Undying Prince would come to claim his Undying Princess (the rumors were split fairly evenly on whether this was a good thing or ill.) There were nearly as many rumors as tongues in the City of Thieves.
Still an interesting twist on the rumor of the Prince Returned was the Lost Tomb of the Priest King. The Emir gave no real credence to treasure hunts, but did he not own the fabled Asp Bow of the Lhamians? Had he not found one of the fabled lairs of Baba Ali the King of Thieves? The Emir listened to the Tale of the Lost Tomb with more than half an ear. After the beggar who claimed to know the true story left with his golden dinar, the Emir gathered his Mumlaks, his Askar, his scholar and the whole host of his servants.
LATER THAT DAY
The Crimashin known as The Hawk crouched in the shadows of the ruin. Once the tower had been proud and strong. But the Invaders had come and the tower had fallen. Now few of its walls still stood. But the Hawk knew that the tower was itself built on a ruin. Even in the deep shadows of the ruin, the Crimashin could see the faint markings that the priests had said bound demons to the tower to keep it safe from cannon and fire. The Crimashin did not think the writing bound demons, but he did think it hid a secret in plain sight. The Assassin traced the faint scratches...there! A click of stone broke the silence. Then a creak of rough join moving. An opening appeared in the floor. The darkness of the Pit beckoned.
The Assassin heard them before he saw them. Three of them rushed from the shadows deeper inside the ruin. There was no challenge, no battle cry, only the sound of feet on stone. 'There was nothing there but the outer wall!' The Hawk had time for one thought before they closed. A sword arched toward him. He was too slow. The layout of the battlefield begins: [photo by Matt W, Jim L was looking for his phone.]
A bit more added.
Just need to add the docks...
After the death of the Crimashin, the Flying Blood Sister swooped down on Lord Kahotep! [Jim L has found his phone...]
But she fails to kill the Tomb Lord with her first attacks. Lord Kahotep strikes!
Lord Kahotep defeats another intruder!
The Unpainted mass in the north.
Then an orc shot a jackal or some minion of the Ancient One's.
The [invisible]crowd goes wild! Here orcs fall like ten pins. Sitting in the midst of the debacle is
Drenok Johansen of Lustria.
Pieces of skeleton are scatterred everywhere!
The Faithful are led by the Knight of the Faith and the Frank. (Many are called by most are trampled.)
There is a reason that the Slavers have models named for the Three Stooges...
The Cathayans rode in from the docks...
Meanwhile the Ancient One sees her enemies attempting to retreat into the tomb.
Elsewhere the Court of the Ancient are overrun.
Emir Haroum and the Tower of Shootiness.
Psssst! I think they are in there... The Slavers and Cathayans form a truce.
There is a Tomb Guardian in there. But that Martial Artist is drowning instead.
DEATH TO KANG! (Kang does not die, although other minions of the Cathayans might have been sacrificed to save him.)
Drenok rides down Holy Man VII...
A Liche Priest and Skeleton Guardians murder Khaldoon III. [This is what happens to those who form truces...]
The Tower of Shootiness is besieged!
Emir Haroum is stunned AND on fire!
The truce is frayed, but the TIME is past...
A Liche Priest and a couple of skeletons are NOTHING to the Ancient One.
The cavalry arrive...too late.
The Final Battle ended by store closing. Lord Kahotep had withdrawn into the tomb (beautifully modeled but not photographed). The Ancient One was said to have entered the darkness in search of him, but neither was seen again...
A ninja is said to have drowned.
Slave Merchant
Aaghaa al-Khaliboni was shot dead by Majed the Archer.
Caravan Guard,
Khaldoon III was killed by a Tomb Guardian
Eunuch,
Haji IV was killed by the Scarab Song.
Some Undead things crumbled to dust.
(But not the Flying Blood Sister.)Holey Man VII was killed by the heathen Drenok Johansen.
THAT'S IT! THE END! Thanks ever so much for watching.
