PostSubject: HighElfNoble´s Halfling Warband   Sat 10 May 2014 - 6:14

Hi Folks,

I´m in the process of starting my very first Mordheim warband.
I chose Halflings mainly because of some Reaper miniatures I liked for a long time, but up until now could not bring myself to buy since I had no further use for them.
(Not that anyone would need a reason to buy pretty miniatures. Smile )

Ok, the first WIP miniatur I´m posting is Porky, the trusty pig of my Halfling cook.

Only Halflings know how vicious a cornered piggy can be. When provoked they can even eat a small Halfling whole! And of course if the food runs short then guess who´s for dinner…

Admittedly, he´s neither a Halfling nor a Reaper miniature, but none the less a real beauty. Wink
Or at least he will be, once I´ve painted him. Right now he´s primed and his base got some leaves. I´m going for a late summer theme.

Not much else to show for now, but I´ll give my best to update this topic with new pictures regularly.

Great pig! Very nice work on the base  thumbsup

The piggies are something I love about the Halflings.  I have recently purchased the Lead Adventure ones form their Brueghelburg range...

Thanks for having me! Smile

The pig is from Scibor Miniatures. Search for 'Dwarven Medic & Ambulance Pig' in the Dwarven Football Players section.

I had to modify it slightly, but I´m very happy with the find and will probably get another one.
Oh, and they sell the pig without the Dwarven Medic too, if you´re not in need of one.

Ah!! I knew I had seen him somewhere! Now I remember!

Thanks for the info. I will get him one day.

Have you seen the upcoming LAM Brugelburg pigs?

I did not see those before. I like them! Thank you for sharing.

These pigs have a Goblin Fanatic feel to them, if something like that exist. Smile

Yeah, I know!

Malifaux has some piglets from their gremlins range which might interest you:
http://wyrd-games.net/shop/Piglets-3-Pack.html
http://wyrd-games.net/shop/Stuffed-Piglets-3-pack.html (bit of a mean concept, but harmfull as metal figures are concerned)
http://wyrd-games.net/shop/Hog-Whisperer-and-Piglet.html
http://wyrd-games.net/shop/Bayou-Gremlin-Warpig.html

And Lead Adventure Miniatures currently sells two pigs:

I really like the character of the Wyrd piglets, but they don't scale well with many other miniatures. I'm not sure where their claim of 32mm comes from. They look more true 25mm, like old 80s GW or Ral Partha.

I painted them a few years ago. Like VK said, these are not really 32mm scale, but for piglets they work really nicely.

Somehow it seems VERY appropriate to start a Halfling Gang off with a Pig...a SPLENDID LOOKING Pig at that. This should be a WONDERFULLY entertaining thread to follow. Have FUN with it all!   thumbsup

The list I´m using is one of the few experimental Halfling lists one can find in the web.
A quick google search should do the trick. Or take a look in RationalLemmings Skydrive of Mordheim Resources. I know the list is in there.
http://boringmordheimforum.forumieren.com/t6711-skydrive-of-mordheim-resources
All credits to him for collecting Mordheim info and sharing. Smile

It´s really nice to see that forum members around here are so activ and kind. If I should be in need of something specific, I won´t hesitate to ask. Smile
Now I feel really motivated to share more from my work here, for you guys to see. But life tends to keep me busy, so I will need a few days before posting new pictures.

Greetings to all of you.

Update Time!

Porky got some color. Took me awhile to figure the right tone out, but I´m OK with it now.
Next up is the base, so that once this is done I can glue him on top and don´t have to worry about difficult to reach places.

Porky is coming along TERRIFICALLY...maybe just a tad on the pale side, but that could be the photo. He is certainly sporting quite an array of paraphernalia. Keep up the GOOD WORK!   thumbsup

With low slung figures like Porky, I generally put a pin in the bottom of a foot & mount it on a pin vice or more often an Exacto style knife handle for painting. The pin comes in handy for mounting once the brushwork is done.   What a Face

Love the pig. If the rest of the warband follow suite it'll have a very unique and fun character

PostSubject: Re: HighElfNoble´s Halfling Warband   Thu 15 May 2014 - 11:11

Small Update!

Porkys base as it is now. On the one hand I am trying to picture a badly maintained street (possibly the streets of Mordheim) and on the other hand I am trying to show the merry nature of those who walk over it (my Halfling warband plus pigs Smile ),hence the bright colors.
It is a bit of a wide stretch and I am still not sure if I am happy with the base as it is now.
The leaves are gonna be a theme and will make a reapearance as symbols on Halfling clothes.

Opinions?

EXCELLENT! The touches of greenery make the base for moi; it's the nature of flora in general, & grass in particular to grow through the cracks & in places of desolation...of course, it will die out in your front yard no matter what you do to aid its growth. Keep up the FINE WORK!   thumbsup

I am out of town over the weekend, but maybe I can smuggle Porky with me and continue my work on him. If this is the case then I will be uploading new pictures of progress in the near future.

Base is looking good. I'd maybe mix in a little dead grass with the live stuff to give the overgrown and abondonded feeling a bit more strength.
