| Hello everyone. I've been skulking about on your fine forums for the past week now and I thought I'd finally introduce myself and perhaps ask some questions. Right so I've been blessed with 4 people in my college dorm who used to play 40K far too much (If ever such a thing could exist). They tried to recruit me back in the day but a lack of funds and the complexity of rules (It's never fun having to glue your eyes to the rulebooks 9 times every turn ) made me quit fairly fast. They stopped playing as well for a years period or two and a couple moved away / new people have entered. So now the name of the game is Mordheim. I thought - sure enough. Not a huge amount of figures, more DnD'like and much more up and personal. They've lent me the Core rulebook, as well as a white dwarf zine which holds the Orcs and Goblin warbands, which look pretty interesting from a first time players point of view. Time for "zhe kwestionz" (Kwa Kwa Kwa ) How does the Orcish warband compare to the other bands. Their strong points, their obvious weaknesses, their favourite foods - and how do I make up my first warband? (That is in terms of choosing X over Y) Thanks in advance, and pleased to meet you. Illa |

| Welcome to the forum!
You might want to ask zhe kwestionz in the Rules & Gameplay forum, as there they will be better noticed, I guess:)

| HEY Illa,WELCOME ABOARD! I hope you enjoy your stay on Fearless Leader Tom's not-so-Boring Forum. The Orcs & [ ESPECIALLY] the Goblins ARE the FINEST of ALL warbands AND tend to be commanded by TRUE Sportsmen, & Gentlemen & Ladies of DISCERNING taste, although you may get some ILL-INFORMED opinions to the contrary . Actually, if you need advice there are numerous knowledgeable folks here who would be DELIGHTED to assist you in ALL the various aspects of the game, AND I would also . | |

| Hey dude, welcome to the fun house and glad to hear you're getting into Mordheim.
With regards to the Orcs & Gobbos I know a major advantage is that Gobbos taken out of action don't count towards the route tests because the Orcs don't care about them. Another bonus is that because of regeneration their Troll can never die (personally I don't like that rule as it goes against the spirit of the game). It's unlikely that you'll have a Troll at the beginning though.
Animosity is something to watch out for; you need to place your troops carefully or they'll end up fighting amongst themselves and your strategy will fall apart.
Apart from that I seem to remember their magic is quite poky so I'd reccomend a shaman as a starting member.

| Hey and welcome,
A few simple things are taking all the heros you can at the start as they max income, and then working out if you want to take a troll or kit out a 9+ warband (depending if you want fewer boys with better weapons or lods of boys with their free dagger and one other weapon.
Orcs form the gam ei played are tough to take down, the squigs closed distance quickly with me so did the fanatic.
They lack ranged but in melee their a bit bette rthan most.
Warband I fought against had a few squigs, herder, fanatic and some goblin archers along with the orcs and heroes, but ti was a more experienced warband.

| Lets see. So that makes One Warboss, One Shaman, Two Big'Uns, A 5 ork group of Boyz, and either a Troll / Better equipment or some Gobbos? |

| Welcome to the forums!
I've only had a little experience with an Orc Mob myself, and for the friend who played them it ended in failure. But to be fair, it came down more to the player then the warband. He was a new player, so his tactics were a little too straight forward and he also dislikes goblins and chose to make his mob all-orc (which I think personally was a mistake).

| TAKE SOME SQUIGS! WS4 S4 Killing Machines, add in the necessary Goblin Herders, give one of the Goblins a Squig Prodder. | |
