Dwarf - First Attempt

Hey folks!

This is my first attempt at one of the new dwarfs from GW.



Looking for input.

I'm worried it's too dark...

If it looks like it does in the photo, I'd say it was somber but not too dark; the dark shades do suit the brooding Dwarven character. While the mini might not be one I'd chose, the brushwork is SPLENDID, & choice of colors is VERY attractive. Keep up the GREAT WORK!   

Thanks DeafNala! I realise now that the sombre look actually works in my favour for what my army represent.

The reason I went for a more "Regimented" style of Dwarf is to suit my background story.

Forgive me, but I'm still writing it, so thought I would give you a brief:

Essentially my Warband is the remainders of a once powerful host that was ambushed on their journey home by a ruthless Orc army. Although victorious, their numbers were almost completely destroyed and the dead were beyond measure... With their leader slain, the Dwarfs swore an oath to avenge their fallen brothers and to hunt down every last orc that had escaped their grasp. Their journey would take them to Mordheim where they would fight to the death to regain their honour.

My plans for these Dwarfs is to take a different route from the standard Mordheim principle of many is better and instead arm a smaller warband with armour and shields to account for their diminished numbers and better equipment. Probably making my life difficult, but I look forward to it

I confess the attraction of Mordheim & similar skirmish games for moi is the story line & the characters; winning & even games play is rather secondary. I can see where the few survivors of a last stand battle would be the elite warriors, &, consequently, more heavily armored the the Mordheim norm. I look forward to the development of your War Band & their evolving story.   

I haven't paid too much attention to the new dwarfs, but I like the look of this fellow.

Axe and shield combo! Many more of these to come

The Mostly Metal Guys are LOOKIN' GOOD! Your golds are particularly attractive. A red wash over the yellow on the lantern & then a highlighting with the yellow would give it more of a light effect. Other than that, GREAT WORK!

Great work on the new stunty ones. I really like the guy with the lantern, but the axe and shield guy is pretty cool too.

So Dwarves are being painted up as we speak.

But in the mean time, I decided to paint up more of my Shadow Warriors. Please note these are not finished and some parts need done/redone, but here's what I have so far.

The pointy Eared Ones are coming along nicely. Keep up the GOOD WORK!
