| In the subterranean dark beneath the Mountains lurk the Crowmoons: A band of greenskins that dwell in underground lairs, occasionally ranging out to raid surrounding fortified inns, farms, villages or small towns They often ambush passing travelers and eventually take the loot back to their dungeon. Dressed predominantly in filthy black or brown robes and rusty armour, the whole warband are garbed in the manner of Night Goblins; black hooded cowls decorated with yellow checks and dags are not uncommon. They are not allied with any great army or aligned with any particular cause. They are just a rag-tag band of greenskins making trouble for the locals and trying not to get killed by something bigger than them. ~~~ The Heroes: Dregtoof the Boss Spitlock the Big'Un Mudgard the Big'Un Dogear the Shaman The HenchBoyz The Arrer Boyz Musician and Standard

| These Ladz are sort-of new. The Orc Boyz are re-painted not-very-piratey Orcs who I felt no-longer fit in with the pirate army. The Heroes are all new. The theme is just Night Goblin styled Orcs. I am going to add some more models to the warband - actual Night Goblins, a Troll and an Ogre.

| COOL STUFF...you can never have enough Orcs! The freehand Crow on the standard & drum are particularly cool. Have FUN with the new Gang! | |

| I haven't yet used these Boyz in a game so I feel less attachment to them than I do with my Pirate Orcs. So they are the first "victims" of an Age of Sigmar re-basing project that I am still not sure will include everything I have. The Crowmoons heroes get 32mm round bases, the Boyz with get 25mm round bases. I've also taken the opportunity to add another highlight to their skin and a bit of warpaint to the Shaman. | I'd imagine Ork Bosses to be a little more flashy, before I read the description, I thought they were the boys. But maybe that's just me, subdued colours certainly fit well with MH. Why do you rebase your minis? I was considering it as well and didn't built any models once the rumour about round bases started. But when I read that GW simply doesn't care about bases anymore, I thought, why should I? And I'll keep using square bases. | |

They are a lot bigger than the Boyz (2 of them are based on wh40k Nobz) but I was going for a simpler look than the normal "flashgitz". - Grimscull wrote:

I like the look of round bases more, that's all. There are less than 20 models in this warband so far so it won't take long.

| The brushwork & basing are up to your normal high standards... GREAT WORK! It's only the color choices that leave me flat; i.e., I think Fantasy minis in general & pirates in particular should look flashy. SciFi can go drab, but then that's why SciFi has a limited appeal to moi. | |

| Good to see a Mordheimish post from you Wbk!
I never bother much with anything 40K unless I think it will convert into something cool for Mordheim.

I hear what you are saying Alan (and although these Boyz aren't Pirates) I generally agree. But a change is as good as a rest, these Orruks are Night Goblin themed, so the grey-brown-black and yellow colour scheme is as bright as they will get. The Warboss is a little more blinged-out when seen from the back:

| The lads look great!
Back when I started collecting minis, I really liked the look of the hexagonal bases Citadel included with their Collector's Series. So I put ALL of my minis on those bases. (Except trolls and chariots, etc.) When I started playing Warhammer 4th edition at games stores I succumbed to peer pressure and re-based my minis with square bases.
I have way more minis now and I'm not doing that again.

I have way more minis now and I'm not doing that again. I periodically re-base Old minis, but then I LOVE doing bases So my opinion on the subject is suspect at best. However, if you should feel the call of hexagonal bases, Reaper now has them. They're a little larger than the old Citadel & have a lip around the edge, but they're quite nice & very reasonable.

These Boyz aren't Pirates Alan - they are the closest things I've done to "normal" Orcs in quite a while. Arrer Boyz next!

| Now deyz some fighty lookin' ladz! Its a little odd, for me since they arent tooled up for 40K but don't look massively fantasy either, almost like modernish/sort of post apocalyptic minus the guns. Either way, they look like some sweet Orcs. | |
