When I said maze-like I should have explained better. Basically, all the houses I've built so far have had very little in the way of internal walls, mostly because it's easier to get figures in and out of them but it does leave them very open.
I think the Skaven would prefer a building that gives them numerous bolt-holes and ways to escape anyone who might be hunting them down so I'm planning on putting in some internal walls to divide it into rooms.
Luckily I live in a city with some proper old buildings so inspiration is never far away. This is the Tudor House Museum (currently closed for internal renovation) in the centre of Southampton and it's a beauty:
I plan to base the building on the museum and then incorporate the rest of the ideas here: tunnels, storm grates, a Warpstone bomb and general signs of Skaven habitation (possibly even a hamster wheel).
There's also a pub opposite my house which is housed in a lovely tudor building (pity it's such a dive really) so I may steal some ideas from that.
