Hi guys.

I know the Undead tend not to get a lot of love, but I've been playing Possessed and Witch Hunters recently and want something else... evil-ish with lots of character.

I had a problem with Undead when I first ran them (oh so many years ago), not so much for their lack of power, but because I couldn't fit the Dregs into the image I had in my head of the warband.

Now, don't get me wrong, I love the original Dreg mini's, but since they are hard to get hold of and I don't want an 'Igor' vibe from my heroes, I was hoping you might help me find something appropriate.

I'm not quite sure how to say this correctly, but what I had in mind was more of a drug-addict feel to the model, I guess... somebody slim, lithe and definitely not your average fantasy fighting hero.

I had the image in my mind of them being like the lesser vampires in things like True Blood, Underworld or Blade; I want them to have that look of some lost rich kid, who's been dabbling in the arcane.

Needless to say, I'm not sure where to start searching for mini's that might fit the bill, but hopefully someone will be able to point me in the right direction for an alternative (i.e. not GW) miniature company.

Thanks a lot for any help you can give me Smile

Not what you had in mind, but how about some little kiddy dregs/thralls? If so, Hasslefree have both (disturbing looking) vanilla and "armed & dangerous" versions:

There's also a demonic version ...

Haha, I actually like the young knight model; not what I was thinking of, but very 'Interview with a Vampire', because who says Vampire thralls have to be adults?

Hmmm. I realise the image in my head might not have been done in miniature form before (who uses models to represent slender, non-fighty NPCs that look like drug-addicts?) so I thought of an alternative look- basically replace the guns with daggers or other melee weapons, and Jackie Estacado, from The Darkness comics/ games is a pretty good match:

One of my favorite Dreg types is Heresy's Quasimarti:

Cool, eh?!   clown

By the way, if you'd like, I could move this thread to the Painting & Modeling section; re, you might get a better response there...it's your call.   What a Face

That would be great DeafNala, thanks. I was considering posting there, but wasn't sure if that was just for painting / modelling WiPs.

The Painting & Modeling section is also big on mini queries or just about anything related to our Little Adventurers. The General Discussion section tends to get over looked except for the occasional Bot. SO off we go to the P&M spot.   What a Face

I think I settled on a theme which actually has miniatures! :p

I think that an appropriate way to model dregs would be to have them as Vampire Thralls- in the style of the old folk lore-ish Vampire Harem, like the Brides of Dracula. The problem I always had with Dregs, was imagining these hunch-backs and misfits growing to be very powerful after a few Close Combat upgrades- it just didn't fit the servile and 'Henchmen'-y feel that the fluff gave them. Having them represented by vampire Thralls suits my taste better, as it shows them developing and growing as they continue to feed on the blood of enemies and the magic of their master.

I settled on a couple of possible models, but am still looking for more, just in case I can find something better.

The ones I'm pretty sure about are:
1) http://www.reapermini.com/Miniatures/Pathfinder/latest/60132
2) http://www.reapermini.com/Miniatures/Bones/latest/77086
3) http://www.arcaneminiatures.co.uk/miniatures-detail.asp?ID=35117

and the ones I'm not sure about are:
3) http://www.reapermini.com/Miniatures/Pathfinder/latest/60129 (Too aggressive looking)
4) http://www.reapermini.com/FigureFinder#detail/14053 (Too ghostly)

Anyone have any suggestion in this vein? (pun intended  Laughing )

EDIT: Unrelated, but this is such an amazing Imperial Assassin figure that I had to share it

The Master Assassin is an awsome Mini. I've got it but since I only have human warbands so far, I have no use for him without modelling a face on the skull-part of his face (which I probably couldn't pull off anyway).
About Dreggs. I'm not sure if I know what you want but there are some more minis that might fit.
Hasslefree:

Anima Tactics. Now there are quite a lot that look like posh drug addicts from a Harem, so you might want to take a look at the other ones:

But I just picked these:

Good Dreg miniature suggestions Cs1033
Good Dreg miniature suggestions Cs2016
Last but not least you might want to consider the Undertakers form Confrontation/Cadwallon that you can still get on ebay:
