PostSubject: AlexBware's miniatures   Tue 16 Sep 2008 - 0:29

Hi everybody... Hi doctor...I just wanted to post a few of my newest miniatures.I bought a bunch of orcs from gamezoneminiatures - really cool looking and HUGE, even compared to normal GW orcs (the boss is about the size of a large ogre). The miniatures require assembly and some gap-work - other than that they are excelent.Anyway here is the first two (the sister is for size comparison)I will post more as I get them done :-)I might also post pictures of my finished warbands.

EXCELLENT STUFF!thumbsup

Those ar two seriously LARGE, NASTY looking Orks; I haven't a clue [not a unusual experience for moi Suspect ] who makes them, but they are GREAT minis & VERY WELL painted!
The Sister of Sigmar is REALLY nicely done; very nice skin tones. She looks like she has just remembered a previous committment AND is about to boogey on out of there [discretion & a head start are the better parts of valor Suspect ].
GREAT STUFF, NICE BACKGROUD, COOL PHOTOS! I'm SURE we'd ALL like to see the rest of your minis when you have the time to post them [right, cianty? Suspect ].

huh, these orcs are scary. Very brutal looking and nasty weapons. HAve you done any converting on them? Good paint job on the orcs and the sigmarite sister, too!

PostSubject: My miniatures (PIC HEAVY)   Tue 16 Sep 2008 - 11:02

OK I will do a major update now :-)

I have posted these pictures on the forum of the danish painting site www.powerfist.dk before.

But before the pictures a few lines.

Regarding the "big" orcs. THey were bought from www.gamezoneminiatures.de (you can also see them at www.gamezoneminiatures.com - a spanish site).

And no, I havn't done any converting on those guys.

Regarding the paint jobs.
Most of my miniatures are actually dipped in Fanatic Army Painter light and super light shade (the old stuff - not the new stuff called Quick Shade).

1st step.
The way I do this is first I mount the miniatures on nails with flat heads (for fixing rooftops) - try to balance the miniature correctly - ALSO NOTE: Large and unbalanced miniatures cannot be used for this, as I later intend to spin the dip of the miniatures with my drill.

2nd step
First prime the miniature with white/grey - NOT BLACK!
I start painting miniatures by adding the base colors and add some highlights (nothing major). For instance, with the orcs, I used a dark green, highlighted with a lighter green. also the white was painted bone white and highlighted with white also the bronze was painted with tin, and highlighted with bronze.
When painting black, you need to highlight with grey, as the dip don't add any shade to black.
Some colors I dont add highlights to. This is red, steel (i might highlight there after they have been dipped), gold, regular green (not the dark one used for orcs), brown, orange and yellow.
Note however, that IMO blue colors don't look good when you dip the miniatures. Also grey colors has a tendency to look poor with a brownish shade.

At this step I also add sand/stones/skulls/whatever to the base - No paint on the base though at this time (except on skulls, and other features - I don't add this stuff on my bases - only sand).

3rd step
When the basecoat and predip highlights are done, the miniature is ready for dipping.
I mount the nail in my accu-drill (on the slowest speed).
First you test if the minature is properly mounted on the nail - check by using the drill, before you dip - and do it over some pillow so the miniature won't get chipped, when it goes flying (WARNING - It will go far, if not stuck properly)
If its mounted correctly dip the miniature, spin it in a box (WARNING - its real messy, so be careful - if you spin it in a cardboard box, you can do it inside - BUT BE CAREFUL)
I spin it for a few seconds twice each way, then unmount the nail.
Then you go over the miniature with a brush and remove excess dip - the usual areas are the eyes, the mouth, some times from the folds in the clothing and from weapons and armor (unless you want them looking really rusty - leave it on orcs). This step takes a little practice.

Let it dry for at least 12 hours.

4th step
Paint the base (I use black, highlight with beastbrown and a light khaki brown (almost like bonewhite).
Add a few highlights if needed on the miniature (weapons, horns, etc.)

5th step
I add a coat of testers dull coat, as I don't like the shine, the FAP dip leaves on the miniature.

Let it dry for a few hours.

6th step
Add static gras and whatever you like on the base.

DONE

Pictures of the Dipping tutorial can be seen here: http://boringmordheimforum.forumieren.com/fantasy-wargames-f15/dipping-guide-with-pictures-t753.htm#10526

Yieks! Minis galore! bounce bounce bounce

Those are some great minis! I especially love the mutant. Great conversion! You sure have a good flesh painting skill; it's what I find very hard to do.

The Middenheimers look very good, too. Especially with that terrain.

As for the BloodBowl minis: Please do not post them in the Mordheim section here. There is the Shout it out section for these kinds of minis. You can even find some bloodbowlers there already.

Cheers!

OH MY GOD!affraid

Well, you've certainly been a BUSY lad! There ARE SO MANY GREAT minis in there that it's vertually impossible to offer comments & compliments without missing a couple of deserving minis. You've covered quite a spectrum of moods from lovely through grotesque with some comedic & heroic pieces in the mix AND done it ALL WONDERFULLY!

This is a thread that I will visit often [there GOES the Neighborhood Suspect ], & offer words of praise as individual pieces come into focus amid the horde. EXCELLENT STUFF! WONDERFUL PHOTOS!cheers thumbsup

Just finished another gamezone orc

Predip (a little bright due to the flash - there actually are some highlights)

After dip and dull coat (still needs some grass on the base) - also notice the size comparison... He is HUGE (and still not the boss)

PostSubject: Updatetime   Thu 16 Oct 2008 - 11:36

Hi again

I figured it was time for a small update - There is a new orc boss in town - and he is big and he is bad!

I am also working on a few other minis at the moment - a troll slayer with a new resin base from foundations of war (lets see how they work out), a dwarf lord (noble), two more gamezone goblins and another gamezone orc.

As I have the next four days of from work, I will try to get some stuff done and post some pictures.

VERY IMPRESSIVE!

The new Orc Boss is REALLY incredible; VERY nice mini VERY nicely painted. I LOVE that Goblin; I had gotten some of Game Zones Wolf Riders when I did up the wolves for a commission, but, I must admit, I REALLY didn't take a good look at them & I haven't seen any of their infantry type Goblins until that one. EXCELLENT mini SPLENDIDLY painted !thumbsup

PostSubject: I have taken a small break from the orcs - NOW its Dwarfs   Sat 18 Oct 2008 - 7:03

Hi again

I figured it was time for a small update - small because its about dwarfs.

A while ago II painted a few dwarves for my friend Jan (the one who is helping with all the scenery). He bought a box of dwarves - I painted them (or some of them that is - there is still a few to go).

Anyway here are some pics.

Clansmen with doublehanded weapons

A few thunderers (the X-bows are from the empire militia box - modified to fit the dwarfs)

Noble and engineer

And finally another clansman and a slayer

I stille have a few dwarves to paint - some slayer alternates (one of them from Avatars of War (really cool miniature)), a Dwarf lord (the one usually standing on a shield), A thundererlord from AoW and quite a few clansmen alternates (axe and shield, hammer and shield, etc. - I might as well use up the miniatures, since my friend bought them) and one more thunderer with X-Bow.

I will keep you updated. I expect a few more miniatures to be done this weekend.
