Skull Sands, Sartosa

I'm planning on making three Arcane Fulcrums for my Pirate Orc army: The Hurricane Anchor, The Mermaid Emporium and The Skull Sands Storm Bell (all Arcane Fulcrums need silly magical-sounding names!)

The first one I'm building is The Mermaid Emporium. It's going to be a glass tank full of stagnant water with an imprisoned mermaid inside. The base is made from left-over Warhammer Fortified Manor components with a deck made from coffee stirrers, a tank made from a Muji pen-pot topped off with a coffee stirrer pulpit (a re-purposed rowing boat from the Hogwasher that was always a bit too boxy for my taste!).

The tank will be filled with greeny-yellow-tinted resin once I've painted the mermaid model:

I'm going to greenstuff all the gaps around the base to fill in some missing stone work. Crabs!

I'd like to see it finished and painted soon...great idea!

COOL LOOKING CRAB...the rest of it is also cool, but the crab rules...mostly.

Haha, great idea! How about adding some typical fish tank stuff, like a sunken castle?

That is one NASTY LOOKING GUPPY...erm, Mermaid...from HELL! The conversion reached your normal high standards...I waited to comment until she looked less like a Barbie-on-a-stick. The Project is progressing IMPRESSIVELY.

I take it the Fishy Fox in a Bowl has some benefit/purpose upcoming Storm of Whatever Campaign.

Yes, Arcane Fulcrums are the objectives/powerhouses of Storm of Magic games. GW has released a load of suitably skull-laden plastic terrain for them. I like them but (and you won't be surprised by this) I wanted mine to be distinctly nautical in appearance.

Having stumbled across your LOVE as a comparatively Young Fellow is a blessing. I didn't find my Goblin Thing until I had painted my way through HORDES of Historical/SciFi/Fantasy Beasties after almost forty long years...the violins wail out some sappy forlorn tune here.

Thanks Tintin - I spent absolutely ages looking for something (Lizardmen? Tyranids? Dark Elves? Dark Eldar? Chaos Spawn?) to use as the tail before I realised that something so simple as an Ork Battlewagon horn and Wood Elf Sprite wings (plus a little GS) would work so well.

I am truly blown away by your concept, creativity, and skill. I'm particularly anxious to see/hear how you plan to do the "stagnant water." I have been considering similar projects using "Quick Water." Given that you are using an acrylic tank, I'm assuming you are planning something similar. But how will you accomplish the "stagnant" effect?

Any information will be much appreciated.
