Hi everyone, new to the forum and scenery building in general (about a year and a half).  I don't do strictly Mordheim structures, but I think it translates okay.  This Tavern/Inn was one of my latest builds for a commission and was wondering your thoughts on it.  I am going to be building a Frostgrave (not sure if that word is allowed here) table in the near future, and have been getting lots of great inspiration from here.  If anyone has any questions on anything I did please ask away.

This model is a solid piece as per the client's wishes, and he also is painting it himself.  It is actually getting shipped out tomorrow, so there are no pics of it painted yet.  For windows I used model railroad windows with sheet styrene backing for a smooth painting surface.  I have scratch built windows many times before, but I wanted to do something different.  Everything else is made from insulation foam except for the roof underlayment and a few small detail bits.

Well, welcome to the forum, this is a great introduction. All the little details add a lot to it and the building has a nice fantastic, not too medieval feel to it. The windows were probably a good idea. Now I'd really like to see some of your buildings that are not solid but playable. Do you have those too?

Here is a few pics one of my first buildings I ever did about a year ago.  It was a small cottage that is playable inside.  Excuse the paint job.  I am still trying to figure that out.

It was made using a foamcore shell with the exterior details added over the top.  Each stone block was individually cut and laid.  To get the broken plaster look, I leave the paper on the foamcore and then cut out the paper where I want the stone to be exposed.  I just carve the stone blocks into the exposed areas.

This was mostly a test piece for me to figure out how I wanted to go forward with other similar builds, hence why it is not mounted on an mdf base.  The tree was made with wire and sculpey.  And I used a lot of different flocking, static grasses, and flowers.  The furniture are Hirst Arts Molds casts that were sent to me from a fan of my channel.  Minis are from Reaper, North Start, Miniatures, and Zombicide Black Plague.

Please feel free to comment or ask any questions.  I am very excited to start a thread in a month or so when I start my next commission (Once I finish the one I am currently working, LOL).

Thanks for the compliments. I really appreciate it. Shingles are made from thinly sliced insulation foam.

The paintjob is very much excused.Shocked So this is the first house you tried your hands on? But I take it from you mentioning your channel that you are somewhat experienced in the big field of modelling?
It certainly shows that you put so much work into every individual shingle and stone. The only thing I can nag about is the mouldlines on the pumpkins, but that's it. How long do you need for a building like this?

The building, the surrounding grounds, & the inhabitants are all BEAUTIFULLY crafted & painted treasures...I love the Halloween feel of the place. Your flair for details really raises the piece to a higher level. VERY WELL DONE!  thumbsup

WELCOME ABOARD! ENJOY YOUR STAY!  What a Face

Thanks, actually the channel was a thing I started when I first got into the whole making models for my games.  I had very little experience up till that point.  But I have a tendency to over research a lot when taking on a new project, and it usually translates into me "looking" like I know what I am doing LOL.

As far as the pumpkins go, I hear you, I didn't even notice the mould lines until after the pictures were taken.  But oh well.

I have a lot of WIP photos of this and other stuff on my Facebook page, (I won't plug it here, I am not sure that it is allowed).  But it should be easy enough to figure out.
