My friend was just looking for additional purchases for his Wood Elf warband and came across the Wood Spirit. We both see it as a 'treeman'-type henchman, but it has no large target rule (+1 to hit it), which I atleast found weird looking at the profile and cost. Can this be true?
Additionally, this is not noted under the Orcs & Goblins' Troll. Is this a mistake as well, or is it intentional for the balance?

The errors in the Orc and Goblin list is one of those GW cut and paste things that drive me bats about their editors. The Troll is a large target, this is included in FAQs but never made it into an official printing of the list despite several opportunities.

As for the Wood elf list this is a fan-made list so nearly any craziness can be true and often is. You can play it as written or amend at your whim. (We do use a lot of fan-made lists, but my first bad experience with one was a Wood Elf list which has put me off them since.)

Perhaps we've been playing this all wrong. I just re-read the Lizardmen rules. We've always interpreted "Large: Kroxigor stand out amongst the rest of the Warband and may be picked out by an archer even if he is not the closest model" as a Kroxigor being a Large Target as per the shooting rules, but it seems that this isn't the case. Anyone who can clarify this?

I can see that Ogre Bodyguards & Minotaurs are Larget Targets, but is it the same as "Large" in the rules?

Thanks for clearing this up atleast! We were sure that it was a Large creature, but found it weird, that it wasn't mentioned as one. Do you have a link for the FAQ concerning this?

About the Wood Elves. I argue that it's a Large creature, but he looks in his Warhammer Armies book and says it's closer to a Treekin. I mention the cost and stats compared to other Large creatures, but he mentions stats compared to the book. I think the warband is made after the newest edition, so it might be true, but how about balance-wise?

The Mordheim Large target rule is from 5th edition warhammer when any model on a monster base (40x40mm) or larger was considered a Large target.  This included Trolls, Ogres, Minotaurs, Kroxigors, etc.

Link--I'm getting nervous that I confused official FAQs and our house rules since we have always played a troll, kroxigor, etc as Large.  I thought it was covered in the Rules Review, but I'm not seeing it. (I'm also missing pages 7-10 of that document, go figure.)  Embarassed I do notice that the rules reviewers were meticulous about only correcting EXISTING wording in the other instances of the rule Large.

EDIT: The correction for Trolls (adding the Large Target rule) is on page 9 of the Rules Review.  Now I'm only missing p.10. So that time I thought I was wrong, well I was wrong about being wrong.

Sorry for the confusion.Very Happy

In Warhammer the Large Target rule changed with 6th edition, so Ogres, etc were no longer considered large. Since Treekin did not exist in the 5th edition world of Warhammer, their rules reflect later editions of that game.

Thanks for the answers! Razz

We've figured it out with your help, making basically everything Large Targets, which made sense looking at the stats and gold crown cost.

And yeah, would've been nice with the rules review having modified in the actual texts, so you don't have to check up on it constantly, to see if you've missed something.

If it is any help there is the general rule that anything with a body >=2" tall or wide is a large target (p15, LRB - Hit Modifiers).

In my group we interpreted 'body' to mean 'torso and legs' rather than just torso.
