Two new models with armour. The guy with the double handed weapon (big sword) is a new model for my warband's leader. Costumed made.

I like the selection of models and how well the archer box and the flagellant box work to make zealots. cheers

Thank you guys. One of the witch hunter pictures in the rule book with fully armoured and bearded with hunter with the large axe inspired the gritty look of my witch hunters. Which is a lot less puffy and colorful the my empire human mercs.

I like the Empire Archer models too. They are great for converting a lot of different warbands in mordheim. The human merics being the most common conversion since most models that we can buy at the gw store for Empire are armoured. Sucks for human mercs who start out without armor to save a few gold.

Ok, so i really liked my Witch Hunters and how they turned out. Wasnt always too happy with the warhounds or the Flagellants. They seemed bland. Not heoric enough. So when a Flagellant became a hero, the model didnt have enough punch. I did some looking around and bought some new models and converted. I am very happy with the results.

My new Warhounds. I got some Warhammer 40k Spacewolves wolves. The bases are from the old Warhammer Fantasy starter box with the dwarfs and goblins. The bases were for the gaint spiders. ANd i do know about the space in some of their heads, i'll add green stuff later. Just wanted to paint them right away. Now i have 5 good models for warhounds that stand out on the table.

Group shot of my new Flagellants. Converted from Dark Eldar Wracks (i think that's what they are called)

Some of the Falgellents close up. All have double handed weapons but different looking ones.

Flipchuck's Witch Hunters IMG_2997

The lead flagellant. This one already became a hero.

I like how they have a more serious look and look more heroic. They also stand out on the table. I am really pleased with their weapons. They look crude and improvised.

Very interesting choice for the flagellant-models. They look really impressive and scary.

Cool looking flags! I think your models would benefit from a quick wash of Agrax Earthshade, to create some definition and shading.

Aside from that though, good work. I like your conversions a lot. Plus sweet scenery!!

The Agrax Earthshade, would that be foe the skin/ flesh? I could use something to spruce up the skin tones. The new flesh tone doesn't sit well.

And thanks guys for liking my models and terrain. Its really refreshing to hear those kind words. I sometimes feel I'm not that great after seeing all those awesome models and terrain on here that do look so much better then mine.

I use Agrax Earthshade to shade
- Metal (gives it that nices beaten look)
- Clothing (because brown is a good shade for cloth)
- Ropes and other bits (because it shades those fine too)
- Flesh (not too much, but it gives the flesh a nice feel to it)
- Everything else (because Agrax Earthshade is awesome!!)

In short, I use it to shade my entire model for most of my models. You do need to pay attention to the amount you use. Especially on the skin you can get too much in if you're not careful, but the beauty of wash is you can rectify your mistakes easily while applying the wash.

I don't use it for cool colours though, it doesn't work well on blues and purples. However, for reds, browns, yellows, skintone and metal it does an excellent job. Trust me, if you apply it to the entire model on your new Flagellants, I think you will be quite happy. You can even use it to create even further definition to your bases, but that's not a necessity.

I also use Agrax Earthshade /Devlan Mud on many parts of my models. All the models I posted here recently have lots of this cool wash/dip on them. Everything that's skintone, brown, green, beige/cream, or red.

Nice choice of miniatures. I also believe a nice wash would make the models pop a bit more. Be careful using agrax as too much make the model shiny. Otherwise it is a great choice to give that grim and gritty feel. I would also suggest that you dilute the paints with some water first since it now looks like the paint was a bit thick.

Keep it up!

NICE ADDITIONS to the Old Lady Burners! The new War Hounds are especially COOL looking minis with a striking paint job. The Flagellants might benefit from a reddish brown wash & another highlighting...all that flesh is a challenge. WELL DONE all around!   thumbsup

Your brushwork is just fine...far superior to a lot of the pieces I've seen in action at various gaming stores. It's obvious you give each mini your best; taking that approach, your "best" will just keep getting better.   What a Face

Nice warband, love the choice of the fenris wolves, even though i do have a little problem with the actual range of GW minis, those wolves are not among them, they rule!
And jap, a quick layer of devlan mud shader would definatly increase the look of your flagellants.

Everywhere. Literally. Make sure it falls into the recesses and if you feel you applied too much somewhere, simply let your brush soak it up and apply it elsewhere. And if you are truly unhappy, hold it under the tap and wash it off. You can't go wrong. Good luck and do let us know how it goes.

Ps. Your wolves are awesome!!! Love their fur colouring.

Oh yeah....Group Shots!!!

The frist group of pictures would be my "The Hand of Sigmar" warband. This is where i used the henchmen loophole with 5 flagellent henchmen groups with 1 per group. 1 ended up being a hero after 2nd game.

Thought the wolves would be more in scale as well. Then I thought "meh...great danes". Really massive dogs. Best of the best breed. Makes them look more impressive in the game since they do have some deadly stats anyway. As for the flagellents, just really tall guys 6'5 and up. That sort of thing.

I like your dog models. I have a small one like your small one floating around somewhere. Got mine from an army modeling kit. I was a tank upgrade kit or something. Extra bits like sleepbags and fuel cans to glue on model tanks. Wasn't GW though but still a cool kit. The kit came with a very small dog.

PRETTY COOL! I like the way you use the save technique on your bases & your gaming board. The shots with the background scenery look GREAT. GOOD WORK!   thumbsup

I hate giving a critique on a finished piece, but I think you need to thin out your paints; re, there a very grainy texture to your pieces. Some depth to your metals would also help their appearance. An ink wash & re-highlighting would do wonders. I do my metals stating with a dark metal shade (metallic sequin black for a steel) then, while still wet, a gun metal highlight & finally a finer silver highlighting.   What a Face
