I have recently met a situation that I never had before in years of playing. A hero of a player I'm playing a campaign with got an amputated arm in the injury chart (result 23 and then 1). It states that from now on he can only use a single one-handed weapon. This is very incomplete because it does not state anything about non hand to hand weapons and strangely I didn't find many satisfactory discussions about this issue. While pistols can be reasonably permitted (you can use two at a time after all), and bow reasonably forbidden, the problem is a little bit more itchy for crossbows.
Either by following the "realism criterion", the "playability criterion" and the "have fun criterion" we decided that he cannot use bows nor rifles of any sort, but can still use crossbows, pistols, slings, throwing knives and most of other shooting weapons described in the expansions. However I think that problem deserves a deeper discussion.
There is also the possibility to have house rules that establish some penalties in using xbow with one arm, but since this effect meant to be very simple (no malus for climbing or whatsoever) we wanted to keep it simple.
What would you do in my place?
