When you mount a riding horse, the rule is simple. You get your AS bonus and use the movement of the beast. All hits are assumed to be directed at the rider and you use his stats. When wounds comme to zero, you roll on the Whoa Boy! Table.

However, what happen when riding a more complex creature like the Gigantic spider from the Nemesis crown Forest Gobbos?

It would be stupid that the entire model is taken OOA with the single wound of its rider when the spider has 3 !!!.

Also, wich toughness to use?

And attacks? Do they fight as one creature (each with his own set of attacks) or they figh separatly so they can together Stun an ennemy and put it OOA right after ?

From now, I play that the whole model have the total wound of both. Each have is own set of attack separatly. But when you attack you use the same chart as ballistic to see wich one you try to hit. So if you hit the mount, it doesnt have an armor save (safe of a 6+ barding if it has one) and use his own toughness while if you hit the rider he uses his own stats.

Well.. I'm totally confused ? Question

We discussed this here--

I never really understood your rules (which you seem to have forgotten), although I think 8th edition Warhammer does something similar. We still play by the house rules I mention. We never roll on the whoa boy table when a Gigantic Spider is the mount.

Good.. then we are two.. I never understood them myself and my bretonnians were always a source of arguing.

Still... WHAT DO WE DO ?

I'm open arms to the rule from the BTB for the gigantic spider. It seems a good compromise. However, I think something closer to WHB should be done by just combining the wounds (Mounted units have 2-3 wounds)...

I'm eager to see what people have to say as I'm totally OOA about this ...

Well, in 8th edition WFB, for monstrous cavalry, such as Demigryph riders or Khorne Skullcrushers on Juggernauts, you use the mount's Wound characteristic rather than the rider's. Everything else is tested against the rider. Could be a start...

Well... Then what if your hero mounting the spider has 2 wound and the spider 3 ... this seem unfair as you lose the rider advantage to have 2 wound...

I'm still thinking about it ...

But I think that splitting the attacks between the rider and the mount randomly should be the answer...

A home rule to define injury rolls based on each ... with consequences for the other... let's see...

I don't have the Warhammer 8th rules, but I do have 2-7th rules, so we use those. Shooting: you randomize the hit between the rider and the mount. In melee you can attack both or either, both fight back.

I've never bothered with the BTB gigantic mounts.
