The great sword will have the Youngblood attack last and I don't use longbows to start off with so I can buy a helmet or shields for heroes.

Same goes for bucklers use the money to buy a helmet or shields for heroes.

Other than that pretty similiar to what I do, I strive for numbers.

I agree with what DaBank says...

The greatsword - although clearly the best choice in terms of "coolness" - will not do the youngblood a lot of good until he gets to pick a skill (namely Strongman)

Maybe also give some thought to the buckler thing DaBank mentioned... why not. Rather a matter of taste I would say.

Other than that, I think your list looks solid. Not much to criticise there.
Let us know how it holds up in battle.

The list looks good, like Dabank and admin tom, i would not get the greatsword, also remember your champions and youngbloods dont got strengh skills, he will allways strike last.

I would also give marksmen club/mace instead of swords, and bows instead of longbows. That way you can get that important extra man, putting you on 13 members meaning you rout after 4 instead 3.

Can i ask, why no to the bucklers? Is it s purely offensive approach for more weapons? or because the failed reroll chance is not worth as much?

theres a real lack of maces to glue on to models it seems, only one I know of is from state troops i think.. so its kinda off putting when I like to have their weapons on the models.

Annoying also that 2handers suck. I like the feel of 1-2 in a warband with my fluff section of the brain, having everyone with 2 weapons is a little bland, but i understand it is a good route.

pity 2handers and 1hand and shields are nto as atractive.

How come duel maces is mentioned over sword and mace? I understand stunning, but 2 attacks and a parry is also good is it not?

don't mind the silly questions just curious is all Razz

Yes it is.

I've heard of a couple house rules that can make them more attractive. The one that makes the most sense is -1 to hit (and to wound(?)) on the second weapon, since it is way harder to hit someone with your off hand.

Duce wrote:

2 maces = 6gc
sword + mace = 13gc

Thats why I start with two maces/clubs and then upgrade them later when I can.

More and more people (our group included) plays with the famous houserule:

Models armed with a hand weapon and a shield get an additional +1 to their armour save in CC.

So a warrior with Light Armour and shield would get 5+ against ranged attacks and 4+ in CC.

I play with 5 squigs and have found my one goblin with a prodder in worth his weight in gold.

I do try and keep other goblins close by, but it is very easy for the squigs to move out of range, so far it hasnt happened to me, but got very very close once (had one that was so close to 12inches away from my proder we measured it 3 times, before all agreeing he was JUST inside (by about 2 milimetre) and that gave me a bit of a scare)

with regards to them moving up and down buildings, they are stated as animals and as such can only clamber up 1 inch. although with the special movement, I think a house rule is needed to allow a chance to bound up a floor. it hasnt happened yet because I use them as ground clearance lol. the people I play against are starting to respect the squigs, soon they shall all

Fear the SQUIGS

At the moment they pay far too much attention to my shaman Smile (and I have already made one of them pay for that)

OMG, you are right. Marienburger Youngbloods cannot take Strength skills.
I completely forgot that.

Very good point catferret. Thanks.

so the general opinion is the less cost is better than a swords parry? and the bucklers reroll parry on top early on?

Does anyone use bucklers or is it all 2 weapons mainly?

I'm not fond of 2handers striking last also. ruins the incentive for them. Crying or Very sad

Going to knock up a new attempt. and make it more fluffy and fun looking then max/min Razz

Hi this is for my fishmen (see modeling and painting forum)

My gaming group has allowed me to use the old pit fighter rules- the ones on the specialist games website but with the pursuers special rule from the newest, and that pit fighters can use a fist spike with a morning star if they have the pit fighter rule as all the models and fluff show us they can
however i am not going to EVER take the trollslayer or Ogre pitfighter to keep with my theme

Pit King 80gc
Coral sword-morningstar 15gc
Fist spike 15gc
total 110gc

2x Pit Vets 70gc
coral swordx2 30gc
fist spikex2 30gc
total 130gc

2x Pit initiate 30gc
coral sword x2 30gc
total 60gc

Hero total 300gc

2x Pursuer 50gc
Tridentx2 30gc
net and buckler x2 20gc
total 100gc

2x Pursuer 50gc
Tridentx2 30gc
net and buckler x2 20gc
total 100gc

Total 500gc
9 members
5 heroes

I am a beast when fighting in buildings and my pursuers will always strike first or charge themselves- although in my campaign there are two shooty warbands, rieklanders with 4 crossbows and dark elves with like 4 repeaters, but we are making 5 more buildings so i will get them !
Any helpful pit fighter tactics or mistakes in my list?

thanks

Looks good off hand, I have never played the Pit Fighters but have played against them.

What kind of warbands will you be playing against?

You will need to relly on cover as other warbands will be more than willing to shoot you coming across the table.

This has prompted me to question the rules for the War Chain. should it be treated as a steal whip with the entangle rules it has or used as an old version steel whip?

Also, in the version of the rules I have the Trident is listed as having a range of 8 inches, surely a cut-n-paste error from the javelins!

This is using the rules presented in the Nemesis Crown supplement, its a possibility that I may do this one. Let me know what you guys think.

** Basically the only reson Im doing the Ranger warband is the inclusion of the Runesmith**

Runesmith 109

Gromril Hammer
Helmet
Shield

Apprentice Runesmith 70
Dwarfen Axe
Helmet
Shield

Slayer 55
2 axes

Slayer 65
2 handed axe

GC for heroes: 299

Dwarf Clansman 65
Crossbow

Dwarf Clansman 65
Crossbow

Beardling 30
Axe

Beardling 30
Axe

GC for henchmen:190
Total: 489
4 heroes
8 models all together

Its unfortunate that there is only 8 models in the Warband, so they will run away after losing two Dwarfs. Neutral But that aside, I included the two slayers because I love the models, and the clansmen with crossbows are for ranged support of the main drive. They get the crossbows because Beardlings only have a BS of 2. The apprentice is given a dwarven axe so that he'll be able to parry, no other model in the warband can yet. As soon as I can though the Slayer will get 2, while the fellow with the 2 hander will get a gromril axe.

Again, tell me what you think.

Thanks in advance.

It looks really good, I played with that warband once, maby like 8 games or somethink like that and I like the runesmith aswell.
If you really want 9 members you could drop the Dwarfen Axe, Helmets and Shield. That should free enough money to buy another Beardling.

Hi guys,

This is the list I'm going to use for the campaign Tagnator and me are going to do this Christmas. I need some feedback, and possible things to change. This list might have some bugs, or things I can't use for a starting warband, that's probably because I never played Mordheim before.. Embarassed

Here's the list:

HEROES

Elder [95gc]
/ Double-handed Sword, light armour, free dagger.

Priest of Taal [58gc]
/ Sword, hammer, free dagger.

Blood Brother [60gc]
/ Pistol, sword, free dagger.

Blood Brother [70gc]
/ Pistol, sword, free dagger, lantern

HENCHMEN

2x Jaegers [70gc]
/ Bows, free daggers.

1 Jaeger [80gc]
/ Blunderbuss, helmet, free dagger.

2x Kin [66gc]
/ Maces/hammers, shields.

TOTAL: [499gc]

C+C is very appreciated! Smile

[edit] Sorry that I posted a new thread Cianty, I didn't notice this thread! Surprised

here is my new reiklander warband:

captain: sword, bow, pistol, hammer, helm-108

champion: sword, pistol, bow, free dagger-70

champion: sword, bow, free dagger- 55

youngblood: sword, free dagger-25

youngblood: sword, free dagger-25

5 archers: long bow, club, free dagger-215

ive selected swords for all my heros instead of another equipment becuase i think that they will survive in more combats breaking attaks, ( humans isnt the best people in close combat), but i dont use shields or buklers becuase i think is important make more attaks in close combat.
i prefer a balance between attack and defend. in a campaing, i spend some money in shields and helms when ill get more money for my guys.

Hey xarly!

I think your list is good for a start and I welcome the fact that you are sending your heroes into CC. Most Reiklander players like to "lead from the back"... which gets a little dull after a while.

I would say, keep the list that way for variability's sake.

If you were to play a campaign however, I would think about giving your heroes long bows either at the start or as soon as you have money. Heroes need to 1) make kills (=gain XP) 2) Not get put out of action (= explore for wyrdstone = get money).

Having long range attacks can be a bonus to achieve 1) and 2).

hi tom
you have reason, ive thinked on it, is better to use long bows than bows, i can spend more money in their, without the pistol of the champion.
i think that reiklanders must be prepared in the close combat too, in my experience in some battles with skavens, undead or anothers like beast of chaos i havent get good luck with the arrows and they get me in close combat, imagine the result, in some cases all my heroes die.
im going to take long bows for my heros like you tell me, i think are better like a pistol
thanks tom Cool

Does anyone has any C+C on my list I posted above? It seems that Xarly's list was posted a couple of hours after mine, and mine is totally forgotten.. Sad

yes, you have reason, im sorry.
i ve read your warband now and there are some tings that i would mark.
at first the warband is very solid for the combat (pistols and swords thumbsup ), but i think that yours battle woulb be better if you count with bows in your best heroes.
shoot is very important in that game for heroes (take experienced) and in the case of the humans is more important too becuase the other warbands will prepered better than their.
i prefer to use normal swords than 2 handed swords, mind in the ultimate attack, and only one attack, you would have more oportunitis with a single sword and a hammer, (and is cheaper too) pirat
for the henchmen i think your group is nice interesting, very different thinks, and i like itm, becuse the models look different beetwin and the general vision is better, in my opinion you could take one or two bows plus beetwin your heroes to have more vintage without another warriors.
at the end, if i would going to play with ostlanders i tried to take more models, its only my opinion, i think that it would give you plus oportunities to take victory, and becuase my vision of the ostlanders is like a big group of people ( i think they must be more than other human warbands) drinked, with simple equipment, but with a lot of valour, with less money but with more intentions to take gold sunny
but this is only my point of view, i think your warband is solid and right for the combat.
my english isnt good, i dont know if i explain me well,
try to do more lists and to do more combs.
see you later!

Thanks a lot for your reply and advice, Xarly!

You're english is fine! I'm getting what you're saying. Thanks a lot!
I'm not a big fan of Two-handed weapons either, it's just that the Elder is modelled with a two-handed sword, and I prefer the look of the model over the gameplay. I'd rather loose in style, than win with a warband I don't like! Wink

Thanks again for your advice, I'll try to playtest this list as soon as possible. You'll be the first to know how it went!

Thanks!

Rens.
