I was just looking at a indiegogo campaign to sell 3d printers

http://www3.indiegogo.com/eMAKER-Huxley-3D-printer-kits

it would be rely cool to own one and make your own minis.
I guess its a bit to early with the technology right now but I think it will be great in the future.
Then I just only need a painting machine...

So anyone out there with 550 USD plus shipping and good skills with 3d modelling.....

here is what you can do with loads of tinkering on the eMaker 3d printer

Very Happy Someone already prints his own miniatures from 3D digital models:
for example there's this daemonsmith on CDO: 3D daemonsmith
and i tf 'im not wrong there are companies that offers to 3D print your digital creations.

Nice! However, judging from the CD post above, it seems it's still quite pricey to print you miniatures (the guy said he sent the master to make resin copies of it), so I guess miniature companies will still be safe for some time.

However, especially the likes of GW might have to think about their prices if you can get this kind of stuff cheaper one day. But it's also a great opportunity for smaller firms or people who want to get into the business. Too bad I can't do digital modelling ;D

From what I remember in school (4 years ago), digital printers have some problems with sharp details.
So you can make a rather nice figure and then redo some details on them.
