I'm at work and have limited access to the web. Could someone give me a link to the Halfing warband with the ogre and the piggies and the final version of the Kislevite warband? Thanks.

New Cook was killed by skaven. He's the second Cook to die and even though its sacrelige to consider a halfing band without a cook, I am thinking of hiring a Priest to replace him.

Should I?

If I hire a Priest I am debating between Ranald, Taal and Shallya; thoughts?

I think that it is worthwhile replacing the Cook with a Priest. Having a Cook in the warband obviously isn't working for you. Laughing

I don't have much experience with the priests but I can see why you are tossing up betwen the three that you mentioned.

Ranald looks interesting especially since he starts with Haggle and Streetwise. I think it would be dodgy if you rolled a starting spell like 'Open' or 'Stealth' though.

Shallaya may be useful in regards to keeping your warriors alive. Do you allow the rules for the Apothacary? Are TJ's Champions of Chaos aligned with Nurgle/Onogal for added benefit?

Both Shallaya and Taal (Blessed Ale) may be useful if you can get them close enough to support your Village Ogre by restoring lost Wounds.

Taal could be helpful against the many wolves, hounds and creatures of the other warbands. I could introduce him as a slightly alchoholic aquaintance of Gadabout named Ragnest the Rusty.

TJ's Champions are indeed aligned with Nurgle. We do not allow the Apothacary.

I like the shootiness of Ranald and his skills could help with trading with Nomads and Merchants on the Supply Source chart (we're using the Supply Source chart from Khemri sort of.)

I think that Shayalla is ruled out then. Some of the benefit is lost and some of the remaining benefit is only relevant against a single warband.

The Nomad Guide from Khemri (TC) allows modifying rolls on the Supply Source table. Would you give the Priest of Ranald a special rule like that?

But what a benefit! A 24" radius automatic d6 wounds, plus stunned if you fail a Ld test? The Champions and the Carival are a broken warbands, but that prayer is pretty wack. Shayalla has too many rules that don't apply in our Mordheim games. Disease? Only one warband has ANY disease rules. My first skim of Shayalla's rules missed a lot of information.

However like Shayalla, I missed a lot of information or made assumptions as I was reading the Ranald rules. For some reason I thought the priest could take shooting skills, whch made his throwing knives very attractive. Since he can't he is a bit less useful.

Plus I just don't understand how some of his rules are intended to work in a game. Some of his spells affect the Post game. When are they cast? Can he cast them more than once? What is the effect?

Taal is so much more balanced and useful.

Taal is so much more balanced and useful.

All of the spells (even those that affect the Post Battle Sequence) must be cast during the game in a Shooting phase. If I had these spells then I'd cast them at the very start of the game while I am still moving my warriors into position and before the battle is joined. See werekin's answer here:

I agree that the Priests needs more polish. I hope that werekin can take feedback from people using the rules in that article and be willing to make adjustments. I hope that is why he released that article so early in MiM development.

Thanks for the link to the answers. Perhaps I can think of a better way to ask the question. I don't seem to ask them clearly enough to get a single answer. I understand that the prayers are cast during the game, I just don't understand how they are intended to work. Can you cast them multiple times to achieve no cost? Or reduce costs on several items.

There are two prayers that have similar intents--to reduce the cost of common items. Do they stack? If so can each be cast multiple times? Stuff like that.

One can have hope. As is our group has no reason to use Shayalla and Ranald seems likely to be abused rather than used.

I've added the following note to the two Ranaldan prayers 'Bargain Hunter' & 'Rumour of Bounty...';

"The prayer cannot be used again once it has been successfully cast."

Shooting skills to implement practised knife throwing? Why the hell not! thumbsup

I reckon you should try the priest of Ranald to see how well it works. I think he fits the fluff well as you mentioned. Smile Also, only your elder has access to Academic skills so having Haggle available through the priest would be useful as you said previously.
