Hello,

I'm currently working on some scratchbuilt windows and doors out of balsa wood for my model houses. Since doing them one by one is extremely time consuming (and daunting), I was wondering if there is a way to effectively make molds for windows.

If you know of any technique or special product, please let me know.

Thanks a lot for your help!

Joao

Thanks a lot guys, that's reassuring!

I will try to get that stuff - any distributors here in the UK or nearby?

The video Citizen Sade sent shows green stuff being put in the mold. What other substances can you use to pour on the mold?

Hi floedebolle, thanks for the link! That looks like a great shop to get cool stuff from.

I'll have a closer look and see if the shipping is worth for me in the UK.

Also, thanks for the info about the milliput/FIMO. I've worked with both before, so I will give it a go once I make the molds.

The original name for Instant mold is Oyumaru. Search for that on ebay (or craft stores) for suppliers closer to you, and cheaper prices. Instant mold is seriously the exact same product, tagged with a new name by Coolminiornot.

Spot on FKSN! I checked them on eBay and they even have free postage to the UK - although the cheapest ones come from Hong Kong, so it might take some 3 weeks to get here.

Still, very good deal! Oh boy am I going to mass produce my own windows now!!!

For UKers, I ordered a couple of packs from Fred Aldous on Wednesday, and they arrived this morning.

Thanks for the heads-up, monkeylite! That's super quick delivery, so I might order from them next time (I've ordered Instant Mold from Amazon a few days ago - more expensive than your options... Mad )

this stuff seems interesting. Do the different colours have a meaning or are they just for the pretties?
