Hello all
Anyone know where you can buy foam (the white sort that is ~1cm thick) and balsawood in Sweden?
I'm located in Norrland and the local hobby shop Panduro don't have much to offer but I do got access to big retailers such as Biltema, Bauhaus, Bygmax etc.

i got some pink foam from bauhaus. a bit thicker then 1cm around 2-3cm perhaps. its pretty good. it was in the pick your self warehouse. i think it was meant to be some kind of window isolation.

foamboard you can buy from akademibokhandeln if you find a big store. the one under the first hötorgskrapen (in sthlm) has some but a store in liljeholmsgallerian called Inspira has cheaper.
its mostly used by mordheim house builders and architects that make models before they build the real houses.

balsa i only found in Stockholm at Wentzels but its too expensive.

i think the stuff they use for model aeroplanes is to expensive.
so I am also looking for a good place to get cheap balsa...

oh the big popsicle sticks you can get in panduro are pretty good you can carve them a bit and make them more look like wood if you chop of the round ends. and split them with a sharp knife to make cheap flat timber for houses.

My local Bauhaus only had "cellplast", frigolit with a thickness of 4 cm and up:/
However I found a waterbased spraypaint that don't melt polyester/foam in K-Rauta!

Yeah there's a lot of different cellplast varieties on Bauhaus. Check their website, you can choose wich werehouse and see where the product is in stock. I know for a fact they have cellplast in 10mm...

Balsa is a bit trickier. There are some well-assorted hobby shops that carry it. There's one shop in Söder wich carries different craft wood products, it's called Material. That's the only one I know of, otherwise I go to Wentzels. Smile No idea if you can order online from Material, and It's probably equally expensive.

For your thin foam sheet needs, I suggest you order from http://www.mattonbutiken.se/ - especially if you happen to be (or know) a student, they have great student discounts.

I order most of my other materials from http://www.antenocitisworkshop.com/ in the UK.

I don't use much balsa wood, 80% of my wood usage is looted coffee stirring sticks from McDonalds or popsickle sticks. Balsa is too fragile for my tastes, I prefer pine wood. I think. Pine = Furu, right?
