The Gnomes are the COOLEST pieces you've come up with...the brushwork only makes them more so. GOOD WORK! thumbsup
Gnomes being inventive Folk, I'd go with some fancy, multi-barreled black powder contraptions. clown

Missile weapons for gnomes? What about this?

Just kidding... Smile

These guys have a range of gnomes, maybe you can take some inspiration from them?

The gnomes are great, wish I had access to some old gobbo heads. The dwarves are also very nice... not that I am biased to dwarves. Laughing I enjoyed the squats on your blog for Death Squads too, and may need to borrow the idea!

Oww! Some gems in here for sure. The terrortois guys are my favorites, really nifty idea and great execution. The cultists also caught my eye, nice use of the flagelant bodies and excellent sculpting work!

Any rules in progress for the turtle guys?

Keep those fancy converions commin!

No actually, because of the relatively small range of stats for GW games, I pretty much can't think of anything beyond giving the gnomes and terrortoise the same stats as dwarves... (with the Terrortoise having natural armour (that can't be stolen))....
If anyone has any other suggestions please let me know!

The Gnoblar heads are perfect for Hobgoblins...giving credit for the idea speaks well of your good character. VERY WELL DONE! thumbsup

I will always give credit to an idea (As long as I remember where I got the idea from!!!).

I think the whole blog is excellent but these Gnoblar stood out as a brilliant idea and I had to order some LOTR orcs right away after seeing them.

Yep, great idea and good use of it. Those heads have found their perfect bodies (or vice-versa). Good thing you included the link to your inspiration; those Nurgle conversions are awesome!

Thank you very much guys Smile. I'll try not to screw them up when it comes to painting them... lol

My Kings of War army came in last week so i've put together 10 zombies and another 6 skellies to work on over the next few weeks. Also purchased a decent ammount of Fellbats and some lesser vamps cheap off eBay which is cool, I think i'm just missing the Varghulf and 3 NPCs now for the Vampire hunters campaign!! (though I have to assemble a whole load of figs first).

Well no undead army is complete without Zombies and you need a heck of a lot of them for the Vampire hunters campaign (about 25, which is a lot considering I don't play undead lol).

Therefore I went with Mantic, for the fact that ... well the figures are a lot better than GWs old Zombie kit, and they are REALLY easy to assemble.

Only one pic of these guys, but I also have a pic of the latest skellies on my blog.

I also finally have some Vampires at last (kind of important for a Vampire hunting campaign lol), no photos yet though.

Hey maxxev, that's a fantastic overview of what you can achieve with the Mantic kit! Super dynamic poses and as for proportions, those zombies look more suitable than the gigantic GW ones. Makes me want to get the Manti ones, now.

On a different note, did you get the feeling that the Mantic zombies lack variety in heads and arms options?

The Living Impaired Lads look good...EXCELLENT mass effect. Mantic makes some very nice stuff, & quite reasonably priced. The only thing that I like about G.W's Zombies are all the pieces you get for kit bashing...& I like their hands. What a Face

Joao

You get three guys on a sprue, 2 of them don't have right arms but thay all already have left arms.
You get 3 seperate right arms to work with, but one has a head in the hand (could be used as food though rather than him holding his head on like I did). However as the right arm connection isn't just a flat surface (it's a stubb) i've left one or two arms off some of mine and it looks good (like they were amputees pre-death (or just made to look good for the funeral...)).
They come with 5 different heads if I reacall correctly (all off the sprue now).

So for customisation you are definately more limited to GW, with only 3 bodies and arms already attached, but because of that the arm connections look WAY more realistic than GW and the reaching / grabbing hands are seriously cool (the old GW zombies are naff in comparison (I very much expect GW to re-do these at some point and they will rock i'm sure (like the skellies) but they will be WAY more expensive too).

Overall i'm not really bothered by the lack of variation as... well they are zombies and a mix of paint jobs will help out. I also mixed in I think 3 Mantic Ghoul torsos and legs to give a bit more variation (and increase the number of models).

For the price it think they are excellent. I''m not impressed with the skellies though as their ribcages are tiny and thier skulls are more "animated" and therefore comical (e.g. arching eye sockets and the like) over the GW skulls (I prefer the skull to look like a skull rather than a face that looks like a skull if you get what i'm saying), but again on price they can't be beaten, I placed a bits order and am mixing some GW bits with my Mantic to give me more of the look i'm after.

Lots of cool accessories on the skellies though.... so basically, less customisation = cool zombies, more customisation = not liking the skellies....
The ghouls though only have 2 bodies and 3 heads (one of which I hate) so the Zombies beat them hands down !! lol

EDIT: I should point out that technically there are 4 legs and bodies per sprue, but personally I felt that the legs coming out of the ground were not very well sculpted (And even worse to put on a 30mm base, hence i've only used one) and the "spine" torso (litterally just a apine) would leave the zombie with no head, or arms... and therefore not very offensive. Mantic put 20 zombies on the box but you can only build 18 if you don't use those 2 parts, or 24 if you use all of them ,so i'm a bit confused by thier quantities...

If anyone has any other suggestions please let me know!

Given the limits of their stat line GW has managed to get a lot of milage out of a 1-10 range of characteristics.

Back in the day Warhammer had Gnomes. They were shy retiring types, more of the fairie and pixie realm. They disappeared with the advent of 4th edition, mathhammer and tournaments.

Gnomes had hatred of goblinoids just like dwarfs, sucked at fielding cavalry and were master illusionists (back in the days when a Warhammer wizard could be an illusionist.)

Cheers for that, I used to have teh 3rd edition rules but the stat line doesn't really match the models I have used... I mean they have more muscles than the Dwarf figures lol.

A shot of everything painted for the Vampire hunters undead force so far.... no where near enough, but I will keep slogging on!! lol.

I need to start working on all the skelies soon, unfortunately I missed picking up some cans of the necrotic flesh spray for my zombies so i'm going to have to try to think up some other really easy weay to paint 30 of them....

Like the undead! The ghouls have painted up well. I definitely prefer Mantic's zombies to their ghouls though. Like you mentioned, the zombies still give you plenty of variety even with the relatively limited number of options compared to GW.

Do you think instead of using mordor orc bodies you could use militia bodies for hobgoblins or do you think the size would be too big for them?
