1)The rulebook says:
Quote :
Pistolier. The warrior is an expert at using all kinds
of pistols. If he is equipped with a brace of pistols of
any type (including crossbow pistols), he may fire
twice in the Shooting phase (though note that normal
reloading rules apply). If he has a single pistol then he
may fire it in the same turn it was reloaded
What caught my eye was:
Quote :
The warrior is an expert at using all kinds
of pistols
.
So in fact this skill not only improves warriors ability with pistols, but allows me to use ANY pistol, be it warplock, dueling, doubleb or crossbow. Right? Razz
2)If I have caltrops and roll 'sold to the pits' result, can I use them to stop charging pit fighter (if he charges first)?
3)Brazier Iron:
Quote :
If the warrior survives the attack they must score a 4+ in the Recovery phase or suffer a Strength 4 hit each turn they are on fire and will be unable to do anything other then move. Other warriors from the same warband may help to put the flames out if they wish. They must move into base-to-base contact and score a 4+in the Recovery phase.
Anything other than move - so he can't defend/attack himself in cc. Is he auto hit in this case?

1. - i wish :-( but no, still need weapons training from the shooting skill list to use thta stuff

2 - caltrops write up says Only enough for one battle, so it wouldnt apply to the Sold to the Pits result.

3 - I would say, you are right. unable to attack/defend, which = auto hits.

1) No, I think not. Its just their way of saying it applies to Xbowpistol, warplock pistol etc...

2) I cant say for sure. The Entry says: enough for one use. I guess it depends how you play out your sold-to-the-pits fights. Afaik there are no distances mentioned in the sold-to-the-pits entry and we've always played them out by just rolling who gets the charge and going from there, sometimes even without the actual models.

3) Its this is some FAQ somewhere? =D The target is still moving at will and conscious, I just dont know.

Not much help lol, but I'm really interested to find out what ppl think =)

Well, when sold to the pits:
Quote :
Roll to see which side charges, and fight the battle as normal
Hm. My group agreed that it's just a dice duel based on stats and equip but I'd like to make it an actual battle, with two warriors standing in the arena (within pit fighters charge range 8"). And in this situation - "fight the battle as normal" allows me to use caltrops. Question

About pistolier. It is funny but first sentence clearly states that warrior can use any pistol he may find/buy. you must agree. Laughing

Autohit? on what basis? he's not performing any attacks, at best. No reason to assume that you cannot miss with your attacks. After all, guy engulfed in flames is not standing in place, waiting for the fire to die out - he would be running around, screaming, trying to put the fire out, not an easy target Smile,
Not to mention, a warrior might be kind of reluctant to get within arms reach with a burning fellow - remember: ninjas cant catch you, if you are on fire! Laughing

From what I recall, stupidity doesn't cause auto hits - rulebook p. 23 " though his opponent will still have to roll to hit him as normal"

Oh, and I wonder - warriors helping in putting out the fire need only be in base to base contact in the recovery, right? So, should be they also in combat (maintaining b to b contact with the burning guy) they can both fight AND put the fire out. Power of friendship cheers

About caltrops - nothing wrong with making an actual combat out of it, but the distance would have to be randomized in some way. Something like D6+2 inches, maybe. Pit fighter might be standing right over the unfortunate warrior, for all we know. Besides, assuming maximum charge range would cause caltrops to be used as an "auto-strike-first-for-me" item in such situations, and I like some measure of randomness in the game.

Unfortunately no, that is just the fluff part of the skill description. But it would be nice if it worked like you hoped Wink

Hah - nice try Smile. The relevant part is "if equipped". The rule says what happens if you *are* equipped with the pistols, but doesn't free you from any restrictions in equipping them, so you will stilll need Weapons Expert to equip the pistols not on your list.

Going by RAW there is nothing stopping you from using them, it is just that they won't do anything if you do. The caltrops reduce the charge range of the target, but in this case range is irrelevant - if you are determined to have been charged then you are. The range means nothing. That being said, in my circle we have made an arena for fighting such fights and everything can and is used in this instance.

No. If you want to hit someone you have to roll to hit unless specifically stated otherwise. You are auto-hit if you are: knocked down, stunned, a few other spell or random encounter effects, etc. The brazier iron doesn't say you are auto-hit so you aren't. Feel free to house-rule otherwise, of course Smile.
